Garrett–Harrison Stadium
Garrett–Harrison Stadium is a high school football stadium in Phenix City, Alabama, Phenix City, Russell County, Alabama, Russell County, Alabama, United States, and it has been used for college and high school football games. It is owned by the City of Phenix City and is the home stadium for the football team from Central High School (Phenix City, Alabama), Central High School. Most famously, the stadium played host to the NCAA Division III Football Championship, also known as the ''Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl'', from 1973 to 1982 and again from 1985 to 1989. In 2014, Tuskegee Golden Tigers football, Tuskegee and Albany State Golden Rams football, Albany State played a neutral-site game at the stadium called the ''White Water Classic''. It was the first college football game at the stadium since the last Division III championship held at Garrett-Harrison in 1989. Artificial turf is a surface of synthetic fibers made to look like natural grass. It is most often used in arenas for sports that were originally or are normally played on grass. However, it is now being used on residential lawns and commercial applications as well. NCAA Division III Football Championship
The NCAA Division III Football Championship began in 1973. The Division III playoffs begin with 32 teams selected to participate in the Division III playoffs. The Division III championship game, known as the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl or Stagg Bowl (named after Amos Alonzo Stagg), will be held at Navy–Marine Corps Memorial Stadium on the grounds of the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland in 2022, with sites selected through 2025. Russell County is a county in the southeastern part of the U.S. state of Alabama. As of the 2020 census, the population was 59,183. Its county seat is Phenix City. Its name is in honor of Colonel Gilbert C. Russell, who fought in the wars against the Creek Indians. Russell County is part of the Columbus, GA-AL Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Tuskegee Golden Tigers football program is the intercollegiate American football team for the Tuskegee University located in the U.S. state of Alabama. The team competes in the NCAA Division II level and are members of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The school's first football team was fielded in 1913. The Albany State Golden Rams football team represents Albany State University (ASU) in the sport of American football. The Golden Rams compete in the Division II of the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) and in the East Division of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC).
