Gare De Cherbourg
Gare de Cherbourg is the railway station of the city of Cherbourg, Normandy, France. It is the western terminus of the Mantes-la-Jolie–Cherbourg railway. History On 5 September 1850, the president Louis-Napoléon Bonaparte visited Cherbourg and demanded the continuation of work on the Arsenal. He also demanded the construction of a railway line linking Cherbourg to Paris. The construction of the line was approved in 1852. The station was opened on 4 August 1858 by Napoleon III who arrived on the imperial train from Paris. At the time of opening, the trip to Paris took ten hours and cost 22.85 FrF for a third class ticket and 41.55 FrF for a first class ticket. Queen Victoria visited the city and its station the same day and took part in the grandiose celebrations. The third dock of the Cherbourg Arsenal, 1 200 000m³ in size, was opened and a steam ship immediately sailed from it. Portsmouth Harbour Railway Station
Portsmouth Harbour railway station is a railway station in Portsmouth, England. It is situated beside Gunwharf Quays in the city's harbour, and is an important transport terminal, with a bus interchange and ferry services to Gosport and the Isle of Wight. The station currently has four platforms in use: numbered 1, 3, 4 and 5. It is managed by South Western Railway. Platform 2 is no longer in use, having been decommissioned in the early 1990s following major repair and refurbishment work to the pier that the platforms sit on. Brittany Ferries is the trading name of the French shipping company, BAI Bretagne Angleterre Irlande S.A. founded in 1973 by Alexis Gourvennec, that operates a fleet of ferries and cruiseferries between France and the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Spain, and between Spain and Ireland and the United Kingdom. Dublin Port ( ga, Calafort Átha Cliath) is the seaport of Dublin, Ireland, of both historical and contemporary economic importance. Approximatively two-thirds of Ireland's port traffic travels via the port, which is by far the busiest on the island of Ireland. Location The modern Dublin Port is located either side of the River Liffey, out to its mouth. Gare de Lison is a railway station serving the town of Lison, Calvados department, northwestern France. It is situated at the junction of the Mantes-la-Jolie–Cherbourg railway and the Lison–Lamballe railway. The station is served by regional trains to Cherbourg, Caen, Paris and Granville. Several bus routes also serve this station to connect passengers to nearby towns such as Bayeux, Carentan and Le Molay-Littry. Armand Le Véel (1821–1905) was a French statue sculptor. He was a native of Bricquebec, in the ''département'' of Manche. Napoléon III inaugurated his equestrian tribute to Napoleon I in Cherbourg in 1858. Many of his works are on exhibition at the Beaux-arts Museum of Bordeaux.
