Ganthem Church
Ganthem Church ( sv, Ganthems kyrka) is a well-preserved Romanesque church in Ganthem on the island of Gotland. It contains murals from the 15th century as well as a number of medieval furnishings. It lies in the Diocese of Visby (Sweden). History and architecture Ganthem church is a well-preserved Romanesque church, finished in the middle of the 13th century. The choir with its apse is the oldest part, dating from the late 12th century. The nave is slightly later, from the beginning of the 13th century while the tower is the most recent addition. Apart from an enlargement of the windows made in the 19th century, and the addition of a sacristy in the 1930s, the church has remained unchanged since the 13th century. The interior of the church is decorated with murals from the 15th century. On the northern wall, a set of paintings depict the Passion of Christ. Hörsne-Bara is a populated area, a ''socken'' (not to be confused with parish), on the Swedish island of Gotland. Formerly two ''sockens'', Hörsne () and Bara, Bara was merged with Hörsne under the name Hörsne ''socken'' or Hörsne with Bara ''socken''. It comprises the same area as the administrative Hörsne-Bara District, established on 1January 2016. Geography Hörsne, or Hörsne with Bara, is the name of the ''socken'' as well as the district. Hörsne is also the name of the small village surrounding the medieval Hörsne Church, sometimes referred to as ''Hörsne kyrkby''. It is situated in the central part of Gotland. At the merging of the sockens and parishes, Hörsne Church was kept, while Bara Church was abandoned. Dalhem (also referred to as Dalhem and Hallvide), is a populated area, a socken (not to be confused with parish), on the Swedish island of Gotland. It comprises the same area as the administrative Dalhem District, established on 1January 2016. Geography Dalhem is the name of the socken as well as the district. It is also the name of the small village surrounding the medieval Dalhem Church, sometimes referred to as ''Dalhem kyrkby''. It is situated in central Gotland. Gutnish Language
Gutnish ( ), or rarely Gutnic ( sv, gutniska or ), refers to the original language spoken on parts of the islands of Gotland and Fårö. The different dialects of Gutnish, while stemming from the Old Gutnish ( sv, Forngutniska) variety of Old Norse, are sometimes considered part of modern Swedish.
