Gutnish Language
Gutnish ( ), or rarely Gutnic ( sv, gutniska or ), refers to the original language spoken on parts of the islands of Gotland and Fårö. The different dialects of Gutnish, while stemming from the Old Gutnish ( sv, Forngutniska) variety of Old Norse, are sometimes considered part of modern Swedish. Gutnish exists in two variants, Mainland Gutnish (''Storlandsgutamål'' or ''Storlandsmål''), mostly spoken in the southern and southeastern portion of Gotland, where the dialect of Lau, Gotland, Lau became the standard form on the Main Island (''Lau Gutnish'' → ''Laumål''), and Fårömål dialect, Fårö Gutnish (Gutnish: ''Faroymal''; sv, Fårömål), spoken on the island of Fårö. Hörsne-Bara
Hörsne-Bara is a populated area, a ''socken'' (not to be confused with parish), on the Swedish island of Gotland. Formerly two ''sockens'', Hörsne () and Bara, Bara was merged with Hörsne under the name Hörsne ''socken'' or Hörsne with Bara ''socken''. It comprises the same area as the administrative Hörsne-Bara District, established on 1January 2016. Geography Hörsne, or Hörsne with Bara, is the name of the ''socken'' as well as the district. Hörsne is also the name of the small village surrounding the medieval Hörsne Church, sometimes referred to as ''Hörsne kyrkby''. It is situated in the central part of Gotland. At the merging of the sockens and parishes, Hörsne Church was kept, while Bara Church was abandoned. It is now ruined and known as ''Bara ödekyrka'' ("Bara Church ruin"), although the grave yard is still in use. Dalhem (also referred to as Dalhem and Hallvide), is a populated area, a socken (not to be confused with parish), on the Swedish island of Gotland. It comprises the same area as the administrative Dalhem District, established on 1January 2016. Geography Dalhem is the name of the socken as well as the district. It is also the name of the small village surrounding the medieval Dalhem Church, sometimes referred to as ''Dalhem kyrkby''. It is situated in central Gotland. Ekeby Church
Ekeby Church ( sv, Ekeby kyrka) is a medieval church in Ekeby on the Swedish island of Gotland. The oldest parts date from the 12th century, and the church has been little altered since the end of the 13th century. Its interior is richly decorated with medieval murals. It belongs to the Church of Sweden and lies in the Diocese of Visby. History and architecture The church is constructed of limestone. The oldest part of Ekeby Church is the tower, dating from the end of the 12th century and Romanesque in style. The nave and choir are circa one century younger and Gothic in style. At the end of the 13th century, the tower was also heightened to its present height. MThe two southern portals are richly decorated with sculptures.
