''Gaming In Color'' is a documentary film by MidBoss about queer people in gaming. Directed by Philip Jones, ''Gaming In Color'' focuses on lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) issues in video games, gaymer culture and events, and the rise of queer themes in gaming. The film is largely interview based, and features notable gay gaming personalities in the industry and communities. Colleen Macklin
Colleen Macklin is a female game designer, an associate professor of media design at Parsons The New School for Design and founder and co-director of PETLab (Prototyping Education and Technology Lab) which focuses on games for experimental learning and social engagement. Education She has a BFA in Media Arts from Pratt Institute and has done graduate studies in computer science at City University of New York and in international affairs at The New School. Career On July 26, 2012, the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy launched an Academic Consortium on Games for Impact. Macklin was one of 16 academics invited to join the invitation-only group. Geeks OUT is a New York City-based, non-profit organization, founded in 2010, whose mission is to rally, empower, and promote the queer geek community. The term safe space refers to places "intended to be free of bias, conflict, criticism, or potentially threatening actions, ideas, or conversations".
