Gaetano Tumiati
Gaetano Tumiati (6 May 1918 – 28 October 2012) was an Italian journalist, writer and literary critic. Background Born in Ferrara, Italy, nephew of actor Gualtiero Tumiati, he published his first stories when he was 20 in the newspaper ''Oggi'' by Arrigo Benedetti and Mario Pannunzio. After the Second World War, in which he was taken prisoner and interned in a prison camp in Hereford, Tumiati was devoted entirely to journalism: special correspondent at first for '' Avanti'' then for ''La Stampa'', he was editor of the magazine ''llustrazione italiana'' and finally deputy director of ''Panorama A panorama (formed from Greek πᾶν "all" + ὅραμα "view") is any wide-angle view or representation of a physical space, whether in painting, drawing, photography, film, seismic images, or 3D modeling. The ''Premio Campiello'' is an annual Italian literary prize. A Jury of Literary Experts (''Giuria di letterati'' in Italian) identifies books published during the year and, in a public hearing, selects five of those as finalists. These books are called ''Premio Selezione Campiello''. Then a jury of 300 readers (called ''Giuria dei 300 lettori'') representing different social, cultural and professional groups from each region of Italy, each with one vote, decides the winner of the selection.
