Hildesuse Gärtner
Hildesuse Gaertner (10 February 1923 – 10 February 2016) was a German alpine skier, born in Freiburg. Between 1949 and 1952, she became a sevenfold German champion in alpine skiing. She retired to work as a journalist and became later a writer of travel literature. She died in Freiburg on 10 February 2016 at the age of 93. Paul Gertner is an American close-up magician from Pittsburgh. He is best known in the magic world for his ''Steel and Silver'' book and set of DVDs. Magic career Paul Gertner's interest in magic began as a child, borrowing library books on the subject. Karl Friedrich von Gaertner (or Carl Friedrich von Gärtner) (1 May 1772 – 1 September 1850) was a well-known Germany, German botanist, and the son of Joseph Gaertner. He was a pioneer in the study of Hybrid (biology), hybrids, and he is considered an important influence on Gregor Mendel. Gärtner, who was a protestant, challenged the doctrine of Carl Linnaeus of the "new special creation" which stated that new species of vegetation could arise through hybridization. He defended the stability of species, and argued that although the transmutation of species was evidently possible, the new species would not last because of a ''law of reversion'' which prevented them from spreading freely. Jürgen Gärtner (born 1950 in Reichenbach, Oberlausitz) is a German mathematician, specializing in probability theory and analysis. Gärtner graduated in 1973 with '' Diplom'' from TU Dresden. He received in 1976 his Ph.D. from Lomonosov University under the supervision of Mark Freidlin. Joseph Gaertner (12 March 1732 – 14 July 1791) was a German botanist, best known for his work on seeds, ''De Fructibus et Seminibus Plantarum'' (1788-1792). Biography He was born in Calw, and studied in Göttingen under Albrecht von Haller. He was primarily a naturalist, but also worked at physics and zoology. Gustav Gärtner (September 28, 1855 – November 4, 1937) was an Austrian pathologist born in Pardubice, Bohemia. In 1879 he earned his doctorate from the University of Vienna, afterwards working in Vienna as an assistant to Salomon Stricker (1834-1898), and later as an associate professor (1890). In 1918 he became a "full professor" at the University of Vienna. In Vienna he conducted scientific studies of kidney functions, experiments dealing with electrical skin resistance and research involving innervation of vessels of the brain. Belva Eleanora Gaertner (née Boosinger; September 14, 1884 – May 14, 1965) was an American woman who was acquitted of murder in a 1924 trial. She inspired elements of the 1926 play ''Chicago'' created by Maurine Dallas Watkins; Watkins reported on the trial for the ''Chicago Tribune''. The character also appears in the 1975 musical based on the play.
