Gabby Thomas is a fictional character from the British ITV soap opera ''Emmerdale''. She made her first appearance on 25 December 2001. She was played by Annelise Manojlovic from birth in 2001 until 2015, with the role alternating with Jemma Giles until 2002. The role was recast in 2016 to Rosie Bentham. Bentham took a break from the series in 2017 and was off-screen between 17 April and 22 September. Gabby is the daughter of Ashley Thomas ( John Middleton) and Bernice Blackstock (Samantha Giles), the stepdaughter of Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy) and Lawrence White ( John Bowe) and half-sister to Arthur Thomas ( Alfie Clarke) and Dotty Thomas. Rosie Elizabeth Bentham (born 29 July 2001) is an English actress who has appeared as Gabby Thomas in ''Emmerdale'' since January 2016. Early life and personal life Bentham was born in 2001 to John and Marianne Bentham. Her father was chaplain to the University of Nottingham and canon of Southwell Minster; he died on 6 August 2019 from a pulmonary embolism. Bentham attended The Nottingham Emmanuel School. Bentham supports West Ham United and also her hometown club Nottingham Forest. Valerie "Val" Pollard (also Lambert) is a fictional character from the British ITV soap opera ''Emmerdale'', played by Charlie Hardwick. She made her first screen appearance in the episodes broadcast on 1 February 2004. Val was introduced as the sister of established character Diane Sugden (Elizabeth Estensen).
