G.rev
, short for G.revolution, is a Japanese video game developer. The company was founded by former employees of Taito's arcade division who had worked on '' G-Darius'' and ''RayStorm'', and is known primarily for their arcade shoot 'em up games. History G.rev was founded with the mission of developing arcade shooters, but they realized the cost of development was more than their initial investment capital. To generate revenue, they took on contract work for Taito and Treasure, co-developing the popular shooter ''Ikaruga'' with the latter. This relationship would remain fruitful, with G.rev assisting again on ''Gradius V'', and Ikaruga director Hiroshi Iuchi assisting on G.rev's own '' Strania.'' Border Down
''Border Down'' is a horizontally scrolling shooter developed and published by G.rev. It was released in Japanese arcades in April 2003 on Sega NAOMI hardware, and was ported to the Dreamcast later that year. The story takes place in the future where humans are defending their Mars colony from an invading alien attack. The game employs a "border system" where each stage has three variations of different difficulty. The player starts on the easiest variation, and is lowered to a more difficult variation with each subsequent loss of a life. Producer Hiroyuki Maruyama was heavily inspired by Taito's shooter ''Metal Black'' (1991) and founded G.rev with ex-Taito employees specifically to develop a shooter of his own. Senko No Ronde
is an Xbox 360 video game, a port of the arcade fighter/shooter hybrid developed by G.rev for the Sega Naomi board. Two revisions have been released in the arcades. A home port was released in Japan on July 27, 2006 for the Xbox 360 with enhanced graphics, a more concise story for each character, and network play. The American and European localizations were released on May 29, 2007 and June 8, 2007, respectively for the Xbox 360 from Ubisoft. On May 20, 2010, a sequel entitled ''Senko no Ronde: Dis-United Order'' was released for the Xbox 360 exclusively in Japan, which has many new features, a larger cast and more extensive story mode. Under Defeat
is a shoot 'em up video game developed by G.rev and released in Japanese arcades in 2005. The game takes place in an alternate reality during World War II, where players control German-speaking characters (dubbed "the Empire") fighting against English-speaking characters ("the Union"). Their vehicles are patterned after those of real-life Allied and Axis powers. A port for the Dreamcast was released in 2006 and marketed as the last game for the system, although two more were released the following year. The game was commercially successful, but received average reviews from critics because of its traditional and derivative gameplay. is a shoot 'em up arcade game developed by G.rev and Gulti. The game was released for arcade in Japan on July 30, 2008. Mamorukun Curse! was later ported and released for the Xbox 360 in Japan on June 25, 2009. Treasure (company)
is a Japanese video game developer based in Tokyo known for its action, platform, and shoot 'em up games. The company was founded in 1992 by former Konami employees seeking to explore original game concepts and free themselves from Konami's reliance on sequels. Their first game, '' Gunstar Heroes'' (1993) on the Sega Genesis, was a critical success and established a creative and action-oriented design style that would continue to characterize their output. is a Japanese-developed shoot 'em up video game published by Konami for the Sony PlayStation 2 video game console in 2004. Ikaruga
is a shoot 'em up developed by Treasure. It is the spiritual sequel to ''Radiant Silvergun'' (1998) and was originally released in Japanese arcades in December 2001. The story follows a rebel pilot named Shinra as he battles an enemy nation using a specially designed fighter called the Ikaruga which can flip between two polarities, black and white. This polarity mechanism is the game's key feature and the foundation for its stage and enemy design. All enemies and bullets in the game are either black or white. is a 1995 fighting arcade game created by Taito which was ported to the PlayStation in 1996 and 1997. The PlayStation version was released by Acclaim in North America and PAL regions.
