Frederik Ferdinand Friis
Frederik Ferdinand Friis (16 December 1793 - 18 March 1865) was a Danish architect, professor and Royal Building Inspector. His most important work is the Horsens State Prison. Early life and education Frederik Ferdinand Friis was born in Copenhagen on 16 December 1793 to master builder and fountain master Peder Friis and Henriette Johanne née West. He was admitted to the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 1814. He won small and large silver medals in 1815 and 1817, the small gold medal in 1821 for ''A military academy'', and finally the large gold medal for ''A custom house'' in 1825. He was articled to Peder Malling from 1822 to 1827 where he was responsible for the construction of the new main building for Sorø Academy after the old one had been destroyed in a fire. Ferdinand Wolfgang Flachenecker (1792–1847) was a German painter. Biography Ferdinand Wolfgang Flachenecker was born in Southern Germany in 1792. He worked as a painter and lithographer. Zealand ( da, Sjælland ) at 7,031 km2 is the largest and most populous island in Denmark proper (thus excluding Greenland and Disko Island, which are larger in size). Charlottenborg Palace ( da, Charlottenborg Slot) is a large town mansion located on the corner of Kongens Nytorv and Nyhavn in Copenhagen, Denmark. Originally built as a residence for Ulrik Frederik Gyldenløve, it has served as the base of the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts since its foundation in 1754. Today it also houses Kunsthal Charlottenborg, an institution for contemporary art, and Danmarks Kunstbibliotek, the Royal Art Library. Bornholms Amt () is a former county (Danish, '' amt'') on the island of Bornholm in easternmost Denmark. Short history The county was established in 1662, replacing the former Hammershus Len. Just Mathias Thiele
Justin Mathias Thiele (13 December 1795 – 9 November 1874) was a Danish scholar and librarian. A central personage during the Danish Golden Age, he contributed to Danish cultural life in a number of capacities. He collected and published Danish folk tales with inspiration from the Brothers Grimm and founded the Royal Print Collection, today part of the Danish National Gallery. After the death of Bertel Thorvaldsen, he saved his archives and other papers and based on them he wrote his first biography. He was the father of Thorvald Nicolai Thiele. Bertel Thorvaldsen
Bertel Thorvaldsen (; 19 November 1770 – 24 March 1844) was a Danes, Danish and Icelanders, Icelandic Sculpture, sculptor medallist, medalist of international fame, who spent most of his life (1797–1838) in Italy. Thorvaldsen was born in Copenhagen into a working-class Danish/Icelandic family, and was accepted to the Royal Danish Academy of Art at the age of eleven. Working part-time with his father, who was a wood carver, Thorvaldsen won many honors and medals at the academy. He was awarded a stipend to travel to Rome and continue his education. In Rome, Thorvaldsen made a name for himself as a sculptor. Maintaining a large workshop in the city, he worked in a heroic neo-classicist style. His patrons resided all over Europe.
