Babiker Awadalla
Babiker Awadalla ( ar, بابكر عوض الله; 2 March 1917 – 17 January 2019) was a Sudanese Arab nationalist politician who was Prime Minister of Sudan from 25 May 1969 to 27 October 1969. Early life and education Awadalla was born in the White Nile State on 2 March 1917. In 1940, he graduated from the Gordon Memorial College law school. Career Awadalla held the position of Speaker of the lower house of the Sudanese legislature from 1954 to 1957. In 1964, he provided the drive to start the October Revolution by siding against the military in charge of Sudan. After the revolution, he became Sudan's Chief Justice in 1964. In 1967, Awadalla resigned from his position as Chief Justice in protest of the government's refusal to reinstate the Sudanese Communist Party, which the nation's courts had held to be unconstitutionally banned from parliament. Mansour Khalid (17 January 1931 – 22 April 2020) was a Sudanese lawyer, diplomat, and scholar, who published several books. He served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sudan from 1971 to 1975 and briefly in 1977. He also served as first vice chairman of the World Commission on Environment and Development, also known as the Brundtland Commission, after the Chair of the commission, who was Gro Harlem Brundtland (former Prime Minister of Norway). He played an important role in negotiating the peace accord known as the Addis Ababa Agreement which ended the First Sudanese Civil War in 1972. Farouk Abu Issa ( ar, فاروق أبو عيسى; 12 August 1933 – 12 April 2020) was a Sudanese politician and the Chairman of the National Consensus Forces. Abu Issa attended Hantoub Secondary School and was involved in activism from a young age; he joined the Sudanese Communist Party in 1950. His father was a member of the political party Ashiqqa' and supported peace between Sudan and Egypt. Abu Issa graduated from Alexandria University with a degree in law in 1957 and subsequently joined the Egyptian Communist Party. He was Sudanese Foreign Minister under Jaafar Nimeiry from 1969 to 1971. When the Sudanese Communist Party split from Nimeiry in 1970, Abu Issa withdrew from the party, though he continued to hold democratic sentiments.
