Florence Edem Apefa Ezeh (born December 29, 1977 in Lomé) is a female hammer thrower from Togo, who previously represented France during her career. She set her personal best (68.03 metres) on August 9, 2002 at the European Championships in Munich. Ezeh attended the Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. Biography A student at the Southern Methodist University at Dallas, she won the NCAA championships in 1999, 2000 and 2001. Competing for Athlé 78 up to 1995, then the Racing Club de France from 1996 to 2004, then the CA Montreuil 93 at the end of 1995, she had an outstanding season in 1999 by winning the Hammer Throw at the 1999 European Championships U23s, at Gothenburg, with a hurl of 64.56m. Previously two major athletics events have been held in Kenya, namely 1987 All-Africa Games and 2007 IAAF World Cross Country Championships. 2008 African Championships In Athletics
The 16th African Championships in Athletics was held in Addis Ababa, the capital city of Ethiopia, from April 30 to May 4, 2008. The competition venue was the Addis Ababa Stadium. It is the largest Athletics event held in Ethiopia to date. It was the first time in its then 29-year history the African Championships in Athletics were held in Eastern Africa, despite the region's well-documented success in long-distance running. The athletics competition at the 2007 All-Africa Games was held on the Stade 5 Juillet 1962 in Algiers, Algeria between 18 July and 22 July 2007. Nigeria was the most successful nation of the competition having won nine golds and 24 medals in total. South Africa was a close second with seven golds and also a total of 24 medals overall. At the 2005 Jeux de la Francophonie, the athletics events were held at the Stade Général Seyni Kountché in Niamey, Niger, from 11–16 December 2005. A total of 43 events were contested, of which 23 by male and 20 by female athletes. France sent the largest squad and topped the medal table with 19 gold medals and 39 medals in total. Morocco was the next most successful nation, having won 11 golds and 31 medals altogether. This was large as a result of their middle- and long-distance running dominance which saw them take all three medals in four events, as well as three separate Moroccan 1–2 finishes. The final of the Women's hammer throw event at the 2002 European Championships in Munich, Germany was held on August 9, 2002. There were a total number of 44 participating athletes. The qualifying rounds were staged two days earlier, on August 7, with the mark set at 66.00 metres.
