''Farm Frolics'' is a 1941 Warner Bros. ''Merrie Melodies'' cartoon supervised by Bob Clampett. It was released on May 10, 1941. Plot The cartoon starts with the arm of an animator drawing a farm scene which then colors itself, and the camera zooms in as a narrator begins: *A realistic-looking horse is seen and introduced as a prize-winning show animal; he whinnies (courtesy of Mel Blanc), and a comic Rule of three (writing)#Comedy, triple plays out: The narrator asks him to trot and he obliges. Bob Clampett
Robert Emerson Clampett Sr. (May 8, 1913 – May 2, 1984) was an American animator, director, producer and puppeteer. He was best known for his work on the '' Looney Tunes'' animated series from Warner Bros. as well as the television shows ''Time for Beany'' and ''Beany and Cecil''. He was born and raised not far from Hollywood and, early in life, showed an interest in animation and puppetry. After leaving high school a few months shy of graduating in 1931, he joined the team at Harman-Ising Productions and began working on the studio's newest short subjects, ''Looney Tunes'' and '' Merrie Melodies''. Clampett was promoted to a directorial position in 1937. During his 15 years at the studio, he directed 84 cartoons later deemed classic, and designed some of the studio's most famous characters, including Porky Pig, Daffy Duck and Tweety. Hays Office
The Motion Picture Production Code was a set of industry guidelines for the self-censorship of content that was applied to most motion pictures released by major studios in the United States from 1934 to 1968. It is also popularly known as the Hays Code, after Will H. Hays, president of the Motion Picture Producers and Distributors of America (MPPDA) from 1922 to 1945. Under Hays's leadership, the MPPDA, later the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) and the Motion Picture Association (MPA), adopted the Production Code in 1930 and began rigidly enforcing it in 1934. The Production Code spelled out acceptable and unacceptable content for motion pictures produced for a public audience in the United States. Grasshopper
Grasshoppers are a group of insects belonging to the suborder Caelifera. They are among what is possibly the most ancient living group of chewing herbivorous insects, dating back to the early Triassic around 250 million years ago. Grasshoppers are typically ground-dwelling insects with powerful hind legs which allow them to escape from threats by leaping vigorously. Who's Yehoodi?
The catchphrase "Who's Yehoodi?" (or "Who's Yehudi?") originated when Jewish violinist Yehudi Menuhin was a guest on the popular radio program ''The Pepsodent Show'' hosted by Bob Hope, where sidekick Jerry Colonna, apparently finding the ethnic name inherently funny, repeatedly asked "Who's Yehudi?" Colonna continued the gag on later shows even though Menuhin himself was not a guest, turning "Yehudi" into a widely understood late 1930s slang reference for a mysteriously absent person. The United States Navy chose the name "Project Yehudi" for an early 1940s precursor to stealth technology, also known as Yehudi lights. A song with the title and catchphrase "Who's Yehoodi?" was written in 1940 by Bill Seckler and Matt Dennis. It was covered by Kay Kyser and more famously by Cab Calloway. Joe Penner
Joe Penner (born József Pintér; November 11, 1904 – January 10, 1941) was an American vaudeville, radio, and film comedian. Early life Penner was an ethnic Hungarian born József Pintér in Nagybecskerek, Austria-Hungary, (present-day Zrenjanin, Serbia). His name was recorded as Josef Pinter on the steerage manifest of the RMS ''Slavonia'', sailing from Fiume, Italy, May 4, and arriving at the Port of New York on May 23, 1907. He was accompanied by his sister, Maria, and their guardian, Istvan Molnar. They settled in Elkhart, Indiana. Vaudeville and burlesque Joe Penner first made his mark in local entertainments in Indiana. In 1917, his acts in which he dressed as Charlie Chaplin earned him 38 cents per week. The Great Piggy Bank Robbery
''The Great Piggy Bank Robbery'' is a 1946 Warner Bros. ''Looney Tunes'' theatrical cartoon directed by Bob Clampett. The cartoon was released on July 20, 1946, and stars Daffy Duck. The short is Clampett's penultimate Warner cartoon, produced shortly before he left the studio. Plot On a farm, Daffy awaits his new Dick Tracy comic book to the tune of Raymond Scott's song " Powerhouse". The mailman then arrives, delivering the comic book. To the tune of Franz von Suppé's ''Poet and Peasant'' overture, he sprints to a corner of the farm and begins reading it, noting how much he " love(s) that man!."
