The Far Eastern University – Institute of Architecture and Fine Arts, or simply IARFA, is the academic institute offering architecture and fine arts programs of the Far Eastern University. IARFA's architecture program is certified by the ASEAN University Network-Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) and is accredited Level II by the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA). Brief history The university first offered architecture in 1954 under the Institute of Technology, with Architect Elias Ruiz serving as Dean of the Department of Architecture. In 1968, the university launched a course in Fine Arts, major in Advertising. Far Eastern University (Filipino language, Filipino: ''Pamantasan ng Malayong Silanganan''), also referred to by its acronym FEU, is a Private university, private non-sectarian Liberal arts college, liberal arts university in Manila, Philippines. In European academic traditions, fine art is developed primarily for aesthetics or creative expression, distinguishing it from decorative art or applied art, which also has to serve some practical function, such as pottery or most metalwork. The ASEAN University Network (AUN) is an Asian university association. It was founded in November 1995 by ASEAN member countries including 13 universities. After the enlargement of ASEAN by the ASEAN Charter in 1997 and 1999, the AUN membership has been increasing. Structure The ASEAN University Network (AUN) is an arrangement between 30 universities in the ten ASEAN countries. Galo Ocampo
Galo B. Ocampo (October 16, 1913 – September 12, 1985) was a Philippine artist. He was also the first Filipino to study heraldry and was a member of the International Institute of Genealogy and Heraldry in Madrid. Ocampo was born in Santa Rita, Pampanga. In 1929, he studied Fine Arts at the University of the Philippines in Manila. A modernist painter, he painted works such as the "Moro Dancer" and the "Igorot Dance". Among his paintings, the "Brown Madonna" garnered attention in 1938 because of its depiction of Jesus and Mary as non-Caucasian, brown Filipinos; It was also said to be "flat and two-dimensional". He, along with Victorio C. Edades and Carlos V. Francisco, painted the mural "Rising Philippines" in the lobby of the Capitol Theater in Manila.
