FIBA Under-19 World Championship
The FIBA Under-19 Basketball World Cup (formerly FIBA Under-19 World Championship) is the under-19 men's world basketball championship organised by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA). From its inauguration in 1979, until 2007, it was held every four years. Since 2007, it has been held biennially. The current champions are the United States, who defeated France in 2021. 1999 FIBA Under-19 World Championship
The 1999 FIBA Under-19 World Championship (Portuguese: Campeonato Mundial Sub-19 da FIBA de 1999) was the 6th edition of the FIBA U19 World Championship. It was held in multiple cities in Portugal, with the later rounds held in the capital city of Lisbon, from 15 to 25 July 1999. Spain, won their first (and only, as of 2019), championship in the tournament, by defeating the United States, 94–87 in the Gold Medal Game. Croatia notched their first-ever podium finish, after defeating Argentina 66–59, in the Bronze Medal Game. Andrei Kirilenko of Russia, was named the tournament MVP. The 2003 FIBA Under-19 World Championship (Greek: 2003 Παγκόσμιο Πρωτάθλημα FIBA Under-19) was the 7th edition of the FIBA U19 World Championship. The men's U19 youth international basketball championship organized by FIBA. It was held in the Greek city of Thessaloniki from 10 to 20 July 2003. Australia won the tournament beating Lithuania 126–92 in the final. Andrew Bogut was named the tournament MVP. The 2017 FIBA Under-19 Basketball World Cup (Arabic: 2017 كأس العالم لكرة السلة تحت 19 سنة فيبا) was the 13th edition of the FIBA Under-19 Basketball World Cup, the biennial international men's youth basketball championship contested by the U19 national teams of the member associations of FIBA. It was held in Cairo, Egypt from 1 to 9 July 2017. Canada won the gold medal by defeating Italy in the final match 79–60. Overtime (sports)
Overtime or extra time is an additional period of play specified under the rules of a sport to bring a game to a decision and avoid declaring the match a tie or draw where the scores are the same. In some sports, this extra period is played only if the game is required to have a clear winner, as in single-elimination tournaments where only one team or players can advance to the next round or win the tournament. The rules of overtime or extra time vary between sports and even different competitions. Some may employ " sudden death", where the first player or team who scores immediately wins the game. The 2015 FIBA Under-19 World Championship (Greek: Παγκόσμιο Πρωτάθλημα FIBA Under-19 2015) was the 12th edition of the FIBA U19 World Championship, the biennial international men's youth basketball championship contested by the U19 national teams of the member associations of FIBA. It was hosted by Heraklion, Greece, from 27 June to 5 July 2015. It was the third time that Greece hosted the tournament since 1995. As a result of FIBA rules changes, made effective as of 1 October 2014, this tournament marked the first time that the FIBA Under-19 World Championship used instant replay to review controversial plays and where players were allowed to wear any jersey with numbers from "00" to "99".
