Fuxingmen
Fuxingmen () is the name of a gate that used to be a part of Beijing's old city wall. It is also the name of a road situated in central Beijing and on the northwestern stretch of the 2nd Ring Road. Origin Fuxingmen means "Gate of Revival". An overpass over the ring road exists with the same name. Beijing subway lines 1 and 2 have an interchange stop at Fuxingmen Station. Several public buses serve the area as well. The commercial centres of Xidan and Beijing Financial Street are not far away. Fuxingmen also marks the western end of Fuxingmen Inner Street, which is a western extension of West Chang'an Avenue, and the eastern starting point of Fuxingmen Outer Street. Line 1, Beijing Subway
Line 1 of the Beijing Subway () is the oldest and one of the busiest lines of Beijing's mass transit rail network. Line 1 runs underneath Chang'an Avenue, the city's grand east–west thoroughfare, right through the heart of Beijing with stops on either side of Tiananmen Square. Line 1's color is red. Through operation with the Batong line started on August 29, 2021. Ridership As the oldest line of the Beijing Subway, Line 1 was also the most heavily used from the time the subway opened in 1971 until January 2013, when the near-completion of the Line 10 loop caused ridership on that line to surge past Line 1. Recent traffic relief efforts have been completed in recent years. The Beijing Subway is the rapid transit system of Beijing Municipality that consists of 25 lines including 20 rapid transit lines, two airport rail links, one maglev line and 2 light rail lines, and 463 stations. The rail network extends across 12 urban and suburban districts of Beijing and into one district of Langfang in neighboring Hebei province. With 3.8484 billion trips delivered in 2018, an average of 10.544 million trips per day, the Beijing Subway is the world's busiest metro system. Line 2, Beijing Subway
Line 2 of the Beijing Subway () is a rapid transit rail line in central Beijing that runs in a rectangular loop around the city centre. The line traces the Ming dynasty inner city wall, which was demolished and paved over by the 2nd Ring Road and Qianmen Avenue. Line 2, opened in 1984, is the second oldest and one of the busiest of Beijing's subway lines and the only one to serve Beijing railway station. All 18 stations on the line are under ground. Ten of the 18 stations offer transfers to other lines. Line 2's color is blue. Fuxingmen Inner Street
Fuxingmen Inner Street () is a major street in urban Beijing. It forms part of the extended Chang'an Avenue. It starts at Fuxingmen Bridge in the west, finishing at West Chang'an Avenue in the east. The Xidan commercial area is in the neighbourhood of the street, flanked by other more modern buildings, such as the Beijing Times Square. The impressive building of the Bank of China also sits on this street, together with the People's Bank of China. Fuxingmen Outer Street
Fuxingmen Outer Street () is a major street in urban Beijing. It forms part of the extended Chang'an Avenue. It starts at Fuxing Road in the west and ends at Fuxingmen Bridge in the east. It is a major commercial hub of Beijing, dwarfed only by its more eastern counterparts -- Xidan and Wangfujing. The Chang'an Market lies in this location. Until 2003, the nationwide committee building of the All-China National Trade Union sat along the street for 50 years until it was detonated and demolished. A new building is expected in a few years' time. The 2nd Ring Road () is the innermost ring road highway which encircles the city center of Beijing, People's Republic of China. (The first ring road had been a circular tram route.) The ring road can be divided into two parts: the original ring road (the southern section of which is now excluded from the current ring road), and the newly extended ring road. This article only covers the current (new) 2nd Ring Road. History and geography The 2nd Ring Road runs close to where Beijing's city walls once stood; numerous junctions bear the old city gate's name. A small number of these city gates themselves still stand: Southeast corner tower, Deshengmen and Yongdingmen (which has been rebuilt). Beijing Financial Street (BFS) () is where Chinese regulatory agencies are located. It is located inside Beijing's innermost 2nd Ring Road. According to the 13th 5 years plan, Beijing Financial Street will be positioned more towards a regulatory agencies' precinct. The central bank's headquarters as well as three national regulatory commissions of the central government are located here. Xidan
Xidan (Chinese: 西 单; Pinyin: Xīdān) is a major traditional commercial area in Beijing, China. It is located in the Xicheng District. The Xidan commercial district incorporates the Xidan Culture Square, North Xidan Street, as well as many supermarkets and department stores. The Xidan Cultural Square is the largest venue for cultural events with shopping nearby in downtown Beijing. Area Xidan occupies around 80 hectares (197.7 Acres) within the Xicheng District. Name The name Xidan (literally, "West Single") came from the paifang that existed on one of the streets there. In this context, the name "Xidan" refers to the single ( 单) paifang that existed on the west side ( 西) of the city. The paifang was rebuilt in 2008, and now stands at the Xidan Culture Square. West Chang'an Avenue
West Chang'an Avenue () is a major avenue in urban Beijing. It forms part of the extended Chang'an Avenue. Location It stretches from the intersection with Xidan in the west until Tian'anmen Square in the east. The Beijing Books Building and CAAC building all sit along the avenue. Some of the narrowest parts of Chang'an Avenue are immediately before and after Zhongnanhai. The southernmost entrance, Xinhuamen, is right on the avenue. The avenue finishes off close to the Great Hall of the People.
