Fuxing Township () is a rural township borders on Lukang in northwestern Changhua County, Taiwan. Geography Fuxing encompasses and a population of 45,388, including 23,697 males and 21,691 females as of March 2023. Townships are the third-level administrative subdivisions of counties of the Republic of China (Taiwan), along with county-administered cities. After World War II, the townships were established from the following conversions on the Japanese administrative divisions: Although local laws do not enforce strict standards for classifying them, generally urban townships have a larger population and more business and industry than rural townships, but not to the extent of county-administered cities. Changhua County
Changhua County (Mandarin Pinyin: ''Zhānghuà Xiàn''; Wade-Giles: ''Chang¹-hua⁴ Hsien⁴''; Hokkien POJ: ''Chiang-hòa-koān'' or ''Chiong-hòa-koān'') is the smallest county on the main island of Taiwan by area, and the fourth smallest in the country. Lukang
Lukang, formerly romanized as Lugang and also known by other names, is an urban township in northwestern Changhua County, Taiwan. The township is on the west coast of Taiwan, facing the Taiwan Strait. Lukang was an important sea port in the 18th century and 19th century. It was the most populous city in central Taiwan until the early 20th century. In March 2012, it was named one of the ''Top 10 Small Tourist Towns'' by the Tourism Bureau of Taiwan. Name The township's name, which means "Deer Port", came from its deerskin trade during the Dutch period. Xishi, Fuxing
Xishi Village () is a rural village in Fuxing Township, Changhua County, Taiwan with a population of 2342, and an area of 0.9746 km2. Xishi Village is bordered on the North by Lugang Township, on the South by Tongan township. Most people in the area emigrated from the neighbouring town of Lugang. Fubao Wetland
Fubao (), a woman from the Youjiao clan, was, according to Chinese mythology sources, the mother-in-law of the inventor of silk, Leizu; mother of Huang Di the Yellow Emperor; and, wife of Shaodian. However, the mythological genealogy varies. Fubao is viewed as ancestress to the Han people who form the majority of the population of China. Fuxing Barn
The Fuxing Barn () is a former barn in Fuxing Township, Changhua County, Taiwan. History The barn was built in 1928, during Japanese rule in the 17th year of Mingkuo, by Fuxing Farmers' Association and was originally designed to store rice from different regions in Fuxing Township. The barn was the largest Japanese-style barn in central Taiwan. It was designated as a historic site in 2003. In 2020, the barn underwent overhaul renovation with a budget of NT$45 million from Changhua County Government and the Ministry of Culture. The work was completed in May 2021. Architecture The barn was built by old-fashioned techniques that use rough shell rice, rice straw and clay for its walls. It is equipped with a rice mill room for the production facilities.
