From Zero
From Zero was a nu metal band from Chicago, Illinois. History Formation and major label debut From Zero was formed in 1998. From Zero's music was distinguished from many earlier nu metal groups with its greater focus on melodies and correspondingly fewer elements of rap metal. In 1999, the band independently released their self-titled EP (referred to as "The Green Album"). The album locally sold over 6,000 copies and attracted the attention of major record labels. They later signed with Arista Records and began opening for bands such as Disturbed. Their first album, ''One Nation Under'', was released in 2001. The band promoted the album using a self-published website, allowing fans to personally communicate with band members while they were on tour. They began touring with bands such as Amen, Nickelback, Godsmack, Deftones, and Puddle of Mudd. The song "Check Ya" from the album peaked at number 37 on the Mainstream Rock chart. To date, the band has sold over seven million albums and has had a string of No. 1 mainstream rock singles in the United States. PureVolume (formerly Unborn Media) was a website for uploading and streaming of music files, the first independently run of its type. PureVolume was created by Unborn Media, Inc; Mitchell Pavao; Brett Woitunski; and Nate Hudson, all from the University of Massachusetts. PureVolume is a website for the discovery and promotion of new music and emerging artists. The mission was to give artists a new promotion tool. Each artist has a profile that typically contains basic info, updates, photos, shows and music for streaming. Artists have the option of making each of their songs available for free download. The band currently consists of vocalist Elias Soriano, drummer Robb Rivera, lead guitarist Jaysin Zeilstra, rhythm guitarist Rasheed Thomas, and bassist Adam Woloszyn.
