Bray-Dunes
Bray-Dunes (; vls, Bray-Duunn) is a commune in the Nord department in northern France. It is situated on the Belgian border, with Adinkerke being the closest Belgian town. It is the northernmost commune and the northernmost point in all of France (mainland and overseas territories). John Lowe (darts Player)
John Lowe (born 21 July 1945) is an English former professional darts player. Along with Eric Bristow and Jocky Wilson, he was known for dominating darts during the 1980s. Lowe was world champion on three occasions, in 1979, 1987 and 1993. He was also a two-time winner of the Winmau World Masters and a two-time World Cup singles champion. In total, Lowe won 15 BDO and WDF majors. He held the World No. 1 ranking on four occasions. In October 1984, he became the first player to hit a televised nine-dart finish. Lowe is one of only six players to have won the World Championship three or more times, and was the first person to win it in three separate decades; along with Phil Taylor, he remains one of only two players to achieve this. Mervyn King (darts Player)
Mervyn King (born 15 March 1966) is an English professional darts player who plays in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) tournaments. Nicknamed The King, he has reached seven PDC major TV finals and reached a peak of No. 4 in the PDC Order of Merit. Early life King first took up the game at the age of 12, playing with an old rolled-cardboard dartboard given to him by his father. His father insisted that he played darts using competition distance and height. By the age of 13, he had ambitions to become a professional player as he was playing county darts at Superleague level. His first county A game was at the age of 14 and he won his local men's singles league at that age. Additionally, King hit his first ever nine-dart leg of 501 aged 14 in a practice match with his father. Steve Beaton (born 5 April 1964) is an English professional darts player who plays in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. He won the BDO World Darts Championship in 1996 and is a former World No. 1. Background Beaton was born in Coventry, Warwickshire, England. BDO career Beaton made his World Championship debut in 1992, at a time when the world darts championship was still a unified tournament. He lost in the first round to Chris Johns 1–3, but he was encouraged by his performance in the same tournament in 1993 when he achieved a huge upset win over the tournament favourite and former world champion Dennis Priestley, and he also beat another former world champion in Bob Anderson, before losing in the semi-final to Alan Warriner. Leo Laurens
Leo Laurens (born 30 July 1952) is a professional Belgian former darts player who competed in British Darts Organisation (BDO) events. At the end of 1993, he was number one in the WDF world rankings after all of the BDO's top players broke away to form the World Darts Council (now the Professional Darts Corporation, PDC). Despite his new accolade, Laurens never won a major title. Career Laurens made his World Championship debut in 1989, losing in the first round to American Rick Ney. He returned a year later, beating Canada's Bob Sinnaeve, before losing to Mike Gregory. His best performance came in 1997, where he reached the quarter-finals after beating Ritchie Davies and Richie Burnett. He lost to reigning champion Steve Beaton. Laurens also holds the record for most 180's scored in a first-round match at the World Championship, with nine, although John Henderson holds the record for a best of 5 sets match with 12. Steve Brown (darts Player, Born 1962)
Steve Brown (born July 15, 1962 from Carshalton, Surrey) is a former English-born American professional darts player. Who had the majority of his success during the 1990s when he finished third at the inaugural Professional Darts Corporation's version of the World Championship in 1994 - after the majority of top players decided to separate from the British Darts Organisation. Career During that successful run in the 1994 PDC World Darts Championship Brown beat Kevin Spiolek, Keith Deller and Alan Warriner to reach the last four before losing heavily 0-5 to Phil Taylor. He then beat Peter Evison 5-1 in the third/fourth place play-off, a feature which is no longer staged in the event. Later in 1994, Brown also reached the semi-finals of the PDC Greene King U.K. Masters in Bury St. Edmunds. Rod Harrington
Rodney Harrington (born 30 December 1957) is an English former professional darts player and former commentator. He used the nickname "The Prince of Style" for his matches, often wearing a suit and waistcoat for his games. Harrington enjoyed some major success during his professional career including the prestigious Winmau World Masters in 1991 and two successive World Matchplays in 1998 and 1999. At the PDC Awards Dinner held in January 2019, Harrington was inducted into the PDC Hall of Fame. Stefan Eeckelaert
Stefan Eeckelaert (3 July 1964 – 8 January 2019) was a Belgian professional darts player. Career Eeckelaert won the 1988 Dortmund Open, the 1990 French Open and the 1991 Antwerp Open. He made his major debut in the 1993 Winmau World Masters, losing in the first round to Ray Farrell. Eeckelaert then went on to win the Belgium National Championship and the Belgium Gold Cup in 1994 and also reached the final of the Norway Open and the Belgium Open, losing to Mike Gregory in both finals. He returned to the World Masters the same year, but suffered a second first round exit in a defeat to Roland Scholten. Dave Askew
Dave Askew (born 3 April 1963) is a former English professional darts player who competed in events of the British Darts Organisation (BDO) and Professional Darts Corporation (PDC). He is a two-time semi-finalist of the PDC World Championship (2001 and 2002), losing to eventual winner Phil Taylor on both occasions. Askew was never a full-time professional and earned his living as a bricklayer. Career BDO Askew first made his name in 1988 when he defeated Cliff Lazarenko 6–0 in sets to win the Denmark Open. In the same year, he also reached the final of the Swedish Open but lost out to Simon Duke. In 1989 Askew then won the French Open and lifted his first title on TV, the Cockney Classic when he defeated Steve Smith.
