Freddy Tsimba
Freddy Tsimba (born 1967) is a sculptor and visual artist from the Democratic Republic of Congo. He has made sculptures from bullet casings collected on Congolese war battlefields. One of his artwork entitled ''Au-delà de l'espoir'' (Beyond the hope) was commissioned by the municipality of Ixelles in Brussels and installed on the corner of Chaussée de Wavre and Longue-Vie street in Matonge district. Biography Tsimba was born in Kinshasa in 1967. He studied at the Fine Art School in Kinshasa where he got a degree on sculpture in 1989. He received the silver medal at the Ottawa Jeux de la Francophonie in 2001. Young Initiative On Foreign Affairs And International Relations
The Young Initiative on Foreign Affairs and International Relations (commonly abbreviated IFAIR) is a nonpartisan German think tank dedicated to promoting greater engagement of youth in international affairs. Mirko Dragolioub Popovich (born 1948), is a Belgian filmmaker. He is best known as the director of critically acclaimed film '' Tango Ya Ba Wendo''. Personal life He was born in 1948 in Brussels, Belgium and is of Yugoslav descent. Career He is the founder and CEO of the 'Zinneke Parade' located in Brussels. In 1993, he made the documentary short '' Tango Ya Ba Wendo'' along with Roger Kwami Zinga of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Rosine Mbakam (born in 1980) is a Cameroonian film director based in Belgium. She has directed many short films and full-length feature films, of which the most well-known are documentaries. The Dakar Biennale, or Dak'Art - Biennale de l'Art Africain Contemporain, is a major contemporary art exhibition that takes place once every two years in Dakar, Senegal. Dak'Art's focus has been on Contemporary African Art since 1996. History The Dakar Biennale was conceived in 1989 as a biennale alternating between literature and art. The first edition in 1990 was focused on literature and in 1992 on visual art. In 1993 the structure of the biennale was transformed and Dak'Art 1996 became an exhibition specifically devoted to Contemporary African Art. In Koli Jean Bofane (born 24 October 1954 in Mbandaka in what is now the Democratic Republic of the Congo) is a Congolese writer. Chaussée De Wavre
The Chaussée de Wavre () or Waversesteenweg (Dutch) is a major street in Brussels, Belgium, running through the municipalities of Ixelles, Etterbeek and Auderghem. It starts at a crossroad with the / near the Namur Gate in Ixelles, goes down to the / in Etterbeek, then goes up to the La Chasse crossroad, continues to the Arsenal crossroad with the Greater Ring. After this crossroad, the street enters Auderghem, crosses the /, then merges with the European route E411 where it runs along the Red Cloister and then the Sonian Forest. At its end, the road crosses the Brussels Ring. This street is part of the N4 road, which connects Brussels to Arlon. It is named after the city of Wavre (Wallonia).
