Frank J. Hennessy
Frank James Hennessy (November 19, 1880 – March 18, 1957) was an American politician and lawyer, best known for being United States Attorney for the Northern District of California in the 1940s and early 1950s. His office was located in the San Francisco Post Office Building on 7th and Mission Streets. In the late 1940s, he was often involved in the affairs of Alcatraz Island, working with its first warden James A. Johnston on legal matters surrounding the controversial prison institution. He was the son of William Pope Hennessy, who was a tax commissioner for the Union Pacific Railroad. Hennessy was a University of California graduate and was married to Maude. Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary
United States Penitentiary, Alcatraz Island, also known simply as Alcatraz (, ''"the gannet"'') or The Rock was a maximum security federal prison on Alcatraz Island, off the coast of San Francisco, California, United States, the site of a fort since the 1850s; the main prison building was built in 1910–1912 as a United States Army military prison. The United States Department of Justice acquired the United States Disciplinary Barracks, Pacific Branch, on Alcatraz on 12 October 1933. The island became adapted and used as a prison of the Federal Bureau of Prisons in August 1934 after the buildings were modernized and security increased. Los Altos (; Spanish for "The Heights") is a city in Santa Clara County, California, in the San Francisco Bay Area. The population was 31,625 according to the 2020 census.
