Frank Eric Jaenicke
Frank Eric Jaenicke (23 August 1892 – 2 February 1951) was a Co-operative Commonwealth Federation member of the House of Commons of Canada. He was born in Germany and became a barrister by career. Jaenicke was an unsuccessful 1938 provincial election candidate for the Saskatchewan Co-operative Commonwealth Federation in the constituency of Kerrobert-Kindersley. The Provincial Archives of Saskatchewan (formerly the Saskatchewan Archives Board) is an arms-length government agency with offices in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. The archives holds public and private records which include audio tapes, video, photographs, maps, publications and other material. History A.S. Morton, a history professor at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon was a leading figure in heritage preservation in Saskatchewan. He became head of the department of history at the university as well as university librarian in 1914, just prior to the outbreak of World War I. The 1949 Canadian federal election was held June 27, 1949 to elect members of the House of Commons of Canada of the 21st Parliament of Canada. The Liberal Party of Canada was re-elected with its fourth consecutive government, winning 191 seats (73 percent of the seats in the House of Commons), with just under 50 percent of the popular vote. It was the Liberals' first election in almost thirty years not under the leadership William Lyon Mackenzie King. King had retired in 1948, and was replaced as Liberal leader and Prime Minister by Louis St. Laurent. It was the first federal election with Newfoundland voting, having joined Canada in March of that year. The 1945 Canadian federal election was held on June 11, 1945, to elect members of the House of Commons of the 20th Parliament of Canada. Prime Minister William Lyon Mackenzie King's Liberal government was re-elected to its third consecutive term, although this time with a minority government as the Liberals fell five seats short of a majority. Since 1939, Canada had been fighting in World War II. In May 1945, the war in Europe ended, allowing King to call an election. As the war in Asia was still raging on, King promised a voluntary force to fight in Operation Downfall, the planned invasion of Japan, while Progressive Conservative Party (PC Party) leader John Bracken promised conscription, which was an unpopular proposal and led to the PCs' third consecutive defeat. Luseland, Saskatchewan
Luseland is a small town in Rural Municipality of Progress No.351, in the west-central region of Saskatchewan. The town's population as of the 2006 Canadian Census was 571, down 5% from the 2001 Census. It is known as the hometown of the Canadian business magnate Jim Pattison. History It was the Métis who led the explorer John Palliser into this district in 1858, and it was he who saw most of the country as barren and unsuitable for agriculture. The botanist, John Macoun, traversing the same country in 1881, after the buffalo had been nearly wiped out, saw the country as an agricultural Eden. A quarter of a century later, the first settlers arrived in the Luseland district, drawn by accounts of the rich pastures of prairie wool along the Grass Lake valley. The Saskatchewan New Democratic Party (NDP) is a social-democratic political party in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. It currently forms the official opposition, but has been a dominant force in Saskatchewan politics since the 1940s. The party is the successor to the Saskatchewan section of the Co-operative Commonwealth Federation (CCF), and is affiliated with the federal New Democratic Party.
