Frank Chiaramonte
Francisco Chiaramonte (June 5, 1942 – January 28, 1983) was an American comic book artist best known as an inker for DC Comics and Marvel Comics from 1972 to 1982. Biography Born in Cuba, Frank Chiaramonte emigrated to the United States in 1967. Some of his earliest comics-related work in the U.S. was as an inker under artist-packager Will Eisner and penciler Mike Ploog on the military instructional publication '' PS, The Preventive Maintenance Monthly''. ''Marvel Spotlight'' is a comic book comics anthology, anthology series published by Marvel Comics as a try-out book. It stood out from Marvel's other try-out books in that most of the featured characters made their first appearance in the series. The series originally ran for 33 issues from November 1971 to April 1977. A second volume ran for 11 issues from July 1979 to March 1981. Publication history ''Marvel Spotlight'' was one of three tryout books proposed by Stan Lee after he transitioned from being Marvel Comics' writer and editor to its president and publisher, the others being ''Marvel Feature'' and ''Marvel Premiere''. The advantage of such tryout books was that they allowed the publisher to assess a feature's popularity without the marketing investment required to launch a new series, and without the blow to the publisher's image with readers if the new series immediately failed. Murphy Anderson
Murphy C. Anderson Jr. (July 9, 1926 – October 22, 2015) was an American comics artist, known as one of the premier inkers of his era, who worked for companies such as DC Comics for over fifty years, starting in the Golden Age of Comic Books in the 1940s. He worked on such characters as Hawkman, Batgirl, Zatanna, the Spectre, and Superman, as well as on the ''Buck Rogers'' daily syndicated newspaper comic strip. Anderson also contributed for many years to '' PS'', the preventive maintenance comics magazine of the U.S. Army. Early life and career Murphy Anderson was born on July 9, 1926, in Asheville, North Carolina, and while in grade school moved with his family to Greensboro, North Carolina.
