Francesco Quaino
Francesco Quaini (1611–1680) was an Italian painter of the Baroque period. Born in Bologna, he started as a pupil of the renowned quadratura master, Agostino Mitelli. Working together with Marcantonio Franceschini, In Bologna, Francesco painted in several public buildings, including the decoration of the Sala Farnese in the Palazzo Publico. He died at Bologna. Agostino Mitelli
Agostino Mitelli (16 March 1609 – 2 August 1660) was an Italian painter of the Baroque period and best known as a fresco painter of ''quadratura'' or illusionistic perspectival architectural frameworks. He was born in Battedizzo, near Bologna and died in Madrid while working for the court of Philip IV of Spain. He was a pupil of Gabriello Ferrantini (''degli Occhiali'') and Girolamo Curti. He had a long and fruitful collaboration with Michelangelo Colonna in northern and central Italy; Colonna principally executed the figurative elements and Mitelli, the ''quadratura'' framework. Examples of his ''quadratura'' can be found at Bologna, Parma, Modena, Florence, Rome, and Genoa, testifying to the popularity of the style. Marcantonio Franceschini
Marcantonio Franceschini (; 1648 – 24 December 1729) was an Italian painter of the Baroque period, active mostly in his native Bologna. He was the father and teacher of Giacomo Franceschini.''The picture collector's manual'' by James R. Luigi Quaini
Luigi Quaini (1643–1717) was an Italian painter of the Baroque period. Biography He was born in Ravenna, and first learned the art of architectural perspective painting from his father, Francesco Quaini, a pupil of Agostino Mitelli. After some training with his father, he became a pupil of Guercino, then of Carlo Cignani (his cousin). There he met a fellow pupil, Marcantonio Franceschini. He became the brother-in-law of the latter, and closely collaborated with him in works at Bologna, Modena, Piacenza, Genoa and Rome. Franceschini supplied the figures and Quaini, the landscapes and architecture. He was named a professor of the Accademia Clementina in Bologna. Marcantonio Chiarini (c. 1652–1730) was an Italian painter of the late-Baroque period. Born near Bologna, he trained with Francesco Quaino and Domenico Santi. He painted scenography for plays as well as quadratura in which Sigismondo Caula inserted figures.
