Francesco Fernandi
Francesco Fernandi (1679–1740), also known as Imperiali, was an Italian painter of the late-Baroque or Rococo period. Biography Born in Milan, he initially apprenticed with the painter for the Borromeo family, Carlo Vimercati. After a spell in Palermo, of which little is known, he moved to Rome sometime around 1705. There he joined projects of the large studio of painters working with Carlo Maratta. He was patronized in Rome by the Cardinal Giuseppe Renato Imperiali, from whom he acquired the last name ''Imperiali''. We know little of his works for the Vatican and the Ottoboni family. In Rome, he gained an independent studio, and was apparently popular with visiting British painters, having mentored Allan Ramsay and William Hoare, among others. Among his Italian pupils is the little-known, Camillo Paderni and the more prominent Pompeo Batoni. Baroque
The Baroque (, ; ) is a style of architecture, music, dance, painting, sculpture, poetry, and other arts that flourished in Europe from the early 17th century until the 1750s. In the territories of the Spanish and Portuguese empires including the Iberian Peninsula it continued, together with new styles, until the first decade of the 19th century. It followed Renaissance art and Mannerism and preceded the Rococo (in the past often referred to as "late Baroque") and Neoclassical styles. Viterbo Cathedral ( it, Duomo di Viterbo, or ''Cattedrale di San Lorenzo'') is a Roman Catholic cathedral, and the principal church of the city of Viterbo, Lazio, central Italy. Giambattista Pittoni
Giambattista Pittoni or Giovanni Battista Pittoni (6 June 1687 – 6 November 1767) was a Venetian painter of the late Baroque or Rococo period. He was among the founders of the Academy of Fine Arts of Venice, of which in 1758 he became the second president, succeeding Tiepolo. Biography Pittoni was born in Venice on 6 June 1687. He studied under his uncle Francesco Pittoni, a well-known but undistinguished painter of the Venetian Baroque; a ''Samson and Delilah'' at the Villa Querini in Visinale, near Pasiano di Pordenone, is signed by both painters. Placido Costanzi
Placido Costanzi (1702–1759) was an Italian painter of the late-Baroque period. Placido Costanzi was born in 1702 to a family of gem-makers in Rome. He was exposed to art at a very young age, and became a pupil of Benedetto Luti and painted mainly historical and devotional subjects. He painted a ''St. Camillus'' in Santa Maria Maddalena in Florence, in which he has aspired to the imitation of Domenichino. Many of his works decorate Rome's churches. His ''Resuscitation of Tabitha'' in Santa Maria degli Angeli e dei Martiri replicates a mosaic in St. Peter's Basilica. François Lemoyne
François Lemoyne or François Le Moine (; 1688 – 4 June 1737) was a French rococo painter. He was a winner of the Prix de Rome, professor of the Académie de peinture et de sculpture, and ''Premier peintre du Roi'' to Louis XV. He was tutor to Charles-Joseph Natoire and François Boucher. Throughout his career, Lemoyne sought to be seen as the heir to Charles Le Brun and the leading painter of his generation, titles also vied for by his rival Jean-François de Troy (1679–1752). Lemoyne's work and talent, notably plied in Versailles, earned him the esteem of his contemporaries and the name of the "new Le Brun". He collaborated with or worked alongside other artists of the era, including Nonotte, Gilles Dutilleul, Charles de La Fosse, and Coypel. He took his own life in 1737, at the height of his career. Francesco Solimena (4 October 1657 – 3 April 1747) was a prolific Italian painter of the Baroque era, one of an established family of painters and draughtsmen. Vetralla is a town and ''comune'' in the province of Viterbo, in central Italy, south of that city, located on a shoulder of Monte Fogliano. History Vetralla's dominating fortified position in the heart of Etruscan territories has been continuously occupied since the Early Middle Ages. The Roman site, two kilometers distant, was a posting station on the Via Cassia; some ruins of walls and paving at S. Maria di Forcassi still mark the Roman Forum Cassii.
