Formigal 2007
Formigal, officially ''Aramón Formigal'', is a ski resort in the Aragon Pyrenees of northeastern Spain, near the town of Sallent de Gallego in the upper Tena Valley in the province of Huesca. The nearest international airports are in Zaragoza, Spain and Lourdes, France. The resort Formigal has of marked pistes. The highest point is ''Tres Hombres'' peak at above sea level, with a vertical drop of ; the majority of its slopes face north and northeast. The base of the resort is a purpose-built town which includes several hotels and apartments at . From there an 8-seat chairlift provides the main access for the resort. Prior to 2004 this access was provided by a gondola, informally called "''El huevo''" (''The egg'') by its users. Pyrenees
The Pyrenees (; es, Pirineos ; french: Pyrénées ; ca, Pirineu ; eu, Pirinioak ; oc, Pirenèus ; an, Pirineus) is a mountain range straddling the border of France and Spain. Ski School

Sallent De Gállego
Sallent de Gállego (in Aragonese: ''Sallent de Galligo'' or ''Sallén de Galligo'') is a municipality located in the province of Huesca, Aragon, Spain. The town is located in the central Pyrenees besides the reservoir of Lanuza on the foot of some of the highest summits of the chain, close to the border with France. It is part of the Alto Gállego comarca, and it is the capital of the Tena Valley. These localities are also part of the municipality: Formigal, Portalet d'Aneu, Lanuza, Escarrilla, Tramacastilla and Sandiniés. International Ski Federation
The ''Fédération internationale de ski et de snowboard'' (FIS; en, International Ski and Snowboard Federation) is the highest international governing body for skiing and snowboarding. Founded on 2 February 1924 in Chamonix, France during the inaugural Winter Olympic Games, the FIS is responsible for the Olympic disciplines of Alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, ski jumping, Nordic combined, freestyle skiing, and snowboarding. El Portalet
The Col du Pourtalet, El Portalet or Portalet d'Aneu is a mountain pass and Border checkpoint, border crossing in the Pyrenees, between France and Spain. The pass reaches an elevation of , and links the Ossau Valley, Ossau and Tena Valley, Tena valleys. The road across the pass is known as the A-136 on the Spanish side, and links to Biescas and Huesca. On the French side the D934 road connects the pass to the towns of Laruns, Oloron-Sainte-Marie and Pau, Pyrénées-Atlantiques, Pau. The pass is kept open in the winter, but in case of heavy snowfall may be closed for a couple of days. Due to the Schengen Agreement the checkpoint is not functional nowadays. A gondola lift is a means of cable transport and type of aerial lift which is supported and propelled by cables from above. It consists of a loop of steel wire rope that is strung between two stations, sometimes over intermediate supporting towers.
