Fläming Nature Park
The Fläming Nature Park (german: Naturpark Fläming) is a nature park with 824 km2 in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany, opened in 2005. It is one of six nature parks in the state Saxony-Anhalt. The park borders in the north to the High Fläming Nature Park (German: „Naturpark Hoher Fläming“) in the state Brandenburg and in the south to the biosphere reserve Mittelelbe at the river Elbe. The nature of the park is determined by the low mountain range Fläming (max. ~ 200 m high) with forests, meadows, small clear streams and agricultural land. Culturally interesting are some historic towns, old villages, castles and mediaeval stone churches. The central park office and visitor centre is situated in Jeber-Bergfrieden. The parts of the area belong to the districts Anhalt-Zerbst and Wittenberg (district), Wittenberg and with a small part also to the town Coswig, Anhalt, Coswig. Zahna Stream1
Zahna is a town and a former municipality in Wittenberg (district), Wittenberg district in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany not far from Federal Highway (''Bundesstraße'') Bundesstraße 2, B 2 and about 11 km east of Lutherstadt Wittenberg. It was the seat of the former Amt (subnational entity), administrative community (''Verwaltungsgemeinschaft'') of Elbaue-Fläming. Since 1 January 2011, it is part of the town Zahna-Elster. High Fläming Nature Park
High Fläming Nature Park (german: Naturpark Hoher Fläming) is an 827 km2 nature park in Potsdam-Mittelmark district in the German state Brandenburg. It is the third largest of 11 nature parks in the state of Brandenburg. In 1997, it was declared a nature park by the State Minister for the Environment. There is a visitor center in Rabenstein/Fläming offering information, an interesting exhibition, a bike rental and a shop with regional products. Geography The park is located about 80 km southwest of Berlin and Potsdam and covers the higher parts of the Fläming hill chain. The highest elevation is the Hagelberg (200,24 m). Elbe
The Elbe (; cs, Labe ; nds, Ilv or ''Elv''; Upper and dsb, Łobjo) is one of the major rivers of Central Europe. Anhalt-Zerbst
Anhalt-Zerbst was a district in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It is bounded by (from the north and clockwise) the districts Potsdam-Mittelmark (Brandenburg) and Wittenberg, the city of Dessau and the districts of Köthen, Schönebeck and Jerichower Land. History While Zerbst is a small town today, together with Dessau it was one of the two central cities of Anhalt. When the state of Anhalt was dissolved in 1603, one of the successor states was the principality of Anhalt-Zerbst. It was a small state with almost no political power. In 1793 the line of the princes became extinct, and Anhalt-Zerbst was annexed by the neighbouring principality of Anhalt-Dessau. Coswig, Anhalt
Coswig is a town in the district of Wittenberg of Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It is situated on the right bank of the Elbe, approx. 12 km west of Wittenberg, and 15 km east of Dessau. History The Castle of Coswig was mentioned first in 1187. There is no evidence for slav settlements before this date. In 1215 Coswig is called an "Oppidium". During this time it was one of the most important cities North of the river Elbe. In the 16th century Coswig was already connected to a drinking water pipe from Wörpen.
