Flávio Canto
Flávio Vianna de Ulhôa Canto (born April 16, 1975 in Oxford, England) is a Brazilian judoka who competed in Men's 81 kg Judo. He won the bronze medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics. He is founder and president of the Instituto Reação, and also presenter of the TV shows ''Corujão do Esporte'' on TV Globo and ''Sensei'' on SportTV. Biography Flavio Canto was born in Oxford, England, where his father had a doctorate in nuclear physics. At two years old he came to Brazil and started Judo at fourteen. Despite starting Judo at a relatively advanced age, he was still able to compete at the national level in only five years. He married actress and presenter Fiorella Mattheis in 2013, divorcing in 2014. South American Games
The South American Games (also known as ODESUR Games; Spanish: ''Juegos Suramericanos''; Portuguese: ''Jogos Sul-Americanos''), formerly the Southern Cross Games (Spanish: ''Juegos Cruz del Sur'') is a regional multi-sport event held between nations from South America, organized by the ODESUR (acronym for "Organización Deportiva Suramericana" – ''South American Sports Organization''. The first Games were held in 1978 in La Paz, Bolivia. They have since been held every four years, with the most recent edition in 2018 in Cochabamba, Bolivia. The Games have had an equivalent to the Olympic Flame since their inception: the South American Flame, which is relayed from Tiahuanaco, Bolivia, to the host city. Judo Grand Slam
The Judo Grand Slam tournaments are international judo tournaments held by the International Judo Federation as part of the IJF World Tour. After the Olympic Games, World Championships and World Masters, the Grand Slam tournaments are the highest-ranking worldwide judo tournaments, i.e. the tournaments in which the judoka can acquire the most ranking points. While some sources states that the first Grand Slam tournament was held in Tokyo in December 2008, the IJF titled it as "Kano Cup", not "Grand Slam". In 2009 additional tournaments were also held in Paris, Moscow and Rio de Janeiro. In 2013, Baku replaced Rio de Janeiro. Until 2013 there were four Grand Slam tournaments every year. In 2014 it was decided that a fifth tournament would be added which would be held in Abu Dhabi. In 2019 two additional tournaments were added. 9 Grand Slam tournaments are planned for 2022.
