Flint Metro League
Flint Metro League (FML) is a high school sports league in the Flint area of Michigan. It is composed of twelve high schools. History In 1968, six Flint area schools formed a new league to play against schools of similar size and to cut down on travel for some schools. Two teams, Fenton and Swartz Creek, joined from the County B League, and one each from the Big Nine Conference (Ainsworth), Wayne-Oakland League (Holly) and Tri-County League ( Lapeer High) and a new high school: Carman. The league in 1983 contained 10 schools but by 2002 there were seven teams. Clio in 2005 and Swartz Creek in 2006 moved to the Flint Metro League as the conference was perceived as being overpowering to those schools. In 2006, the entire Big Nine Conference applied for membership in the league to encourage discussion on a merger. Baseball
Baseball is a bat-and-ball sport played between two teams of nine players each, taking turns batting and fielding. The game occurs over the course of several plays, with each play generally beginning when a player on the fielding team, called the pitcher, throws a ball that a player on the batting team, called the batter, tries to hit with a bat. The objective of the offensive team (batting team) is to hit the ball into the field of play, away from the other team's players, allowing its players to run the bases, having them advance counter-clockwise around four bases to score what are called " runs". Genesee Area Conference
The Genesee Area Conference (GAC) is a high school athletic conference in Genesee County, Michigan. It was original called the Genesee Eight Athletic Conference. Since 2002, the GAC operates with two divisions: Blue and Red. In 2019, all members of the red division left to join the Flint Metro League conference, leaving the GAC with only four teams. History The Genesee Eight Athletic Conference began in 1978 with three high schools from the Genesee County B League and five from the Mid-Eastern Eight Conference. Beginning in 1999, the Conference renamed itself to Genesee Area Conference with the addition of Genesee High School bring up the number of High Schools to ten. Oakland Activities Association
Oakland Activities Association is a Southeast Michigan high school athletics conference. It is made up of 23 schools located largely throughout Oakland County, with a single member located in Wayne County History The Oakland Activities Association was first formed with schools from an amalgamation of different leagues. The G.O.A.L. (Greater Oakland Activities League), Metro Suburban Activities Association and the Southeastern Michigan Association (plus one independently associated school) were all merged in 1994 into the Oakland Activities Association, with the goal being to form a more geographically-centered league. Brandon Charter Township is a charter township of Oakland County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 15,175 at the 2010 census. Brandon High School (Michigan)
Brandon High School is a public secondary school located in Ortonville, Michigan. History The now defunct Varsity Hockey team won 4 regional championships in a row. Campus The current building was completed in 1982. Brandon High School's two previous incarnations are still standing and in use. The 1973 incarnation became a middle school, and is now Fletcher Intermediate School. That building replaced the 1949 Brandon School, which became Howard T. Burt and, later, Harvey-Swanson Elementary School. Burt and Harvey-Swanson combined to take the Harvey-Swanson Elementary School name. Swartz Creek is a city in Genesee County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 5,758 at the 2010 census. The city is a suburb of Flint and has incorporated land formerly within Flint Charter Township, Gaines Township, and Clayton Township, but is administratively autonomous from all three. The Saginaw Valley High School Association (commonly referred to as the Saginaw Valley League) is a high school sports league formed in 1904 within the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA), located in the Bay, Genesee, Isabella, Lapeer, Midland, and Saginaw counties in Michigan area.
