Finnish Commuter Airlines Oy, trading as Finncomm Airlines, was a regional airline with its head office on the grounds of Seinäjoki Airport in Ilmajoki, Finland, near Seinäjoki. The carrier operated flights to Estonia, Germany, Lithuania, Romania, Sweden and 16 destinations within Finland from its base at Helsinki Airport. Flybe (pronounced ), styled as flybe, is a British airline based at Birmingham Airport, England. History The airline traces its history back to Jersey European Airways, which was set up in 1979 following the merger of Intra Airways and Express Air Services. Enontekiö Airport ( fi, Enontekiön lentoasema) is an airport located in Enontekiö, Finnish Lapland, west southwest of Hetta, the municipal centre of Enontekiö. Overview It is mainly used for charter flights during the winter, particularly those of UK tour operator Transun, whose passengers account for 80% of the airport's passenger volume. Passengers on these flights are tourists coming to experience Lapland for the day or to enjoy a stay in the nearby villages of Hetta, Karesuando (Sweden) or Kautokeino (Norway). Enontekiö (; sme, Eanodat ; sv, Enontekis; smn, Iänudâh; sms, Jeänõk) is a municipality in the Finnish part of Lapland with approx. inhabitants. The ATR 42 is a regional airliner produced by Franco-Italian manufacturer ATR, with final assembly in Toulouse, France. On 4 November 1981, the aircraft was launched with ATR, as a joint venture between French Aérospatiale (now Airbus) and Aeritalia (now Leonardo S.p.A.). The ATR 42-300 performed its maiden flight on 16 August 1984 and type certification was granted during September 1985.
