Finlay Knox
Finlay Knox (born January 8, 2001) is a Canadian competitive swimmer. Career Knox was born in England, and his family moved to New Zealand when he was two years old. Knox's family emigrated to Canada when he was seven. Knox was named to his first Canadian national team at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics held in Buenos Aires, Argentina. At this event, Knox won bronze in the 200 m individual medley In 2019, Knox won two medals at the 2019 FINA World Junior Swimming Championships in Budapest. As part of the 2021 Canadian Olympic swimming trials in Toronto, Knox broke the national record in the 200 individual medley event, with a time of 1:58.07. This qualified him for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Knox placed seventeenth in the heats of the men's 200 m individual medley, 0.14 seconds behind Japan's Daiya Seto, and thus missed qualifying to the semi-finals. Medley Swimming
Medley is a combination of four different swimming styles—backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, and freestyle—into one race. This race is either swum by one swimmer as individual medley (IM) or by four swimmers as a medley relay. Individual medley Individual medley consists of a single swimmer swimming equal distances of four different strokes within one race. Stroke order Individual medley consists of four strokes. These four strokes go in an order by Butterfly, Backstroke, Breaststroke and finally Freestyle. The swimmer will swim one quarter of the race in each style, in a certain order. Canada competed at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England. This was Canada's 22nd appearance at the Commonwealth Games, having competed at every Games since their inception in 1930. Daiya Seto
is a Japanese professional swimmer who specializes in individual medley, butterfly, breaststroke, and freestyle events. He won the gold medal in the 400-metre individual medley at the 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018, and 2021 world short course championships, 2022 as well as at the 2013, 2015, and 2019 world long course championships.
