Filopoimin Finos
Filopimin Finos ( el, Φιλοποίμην Φίνος; 1908 – January 26, 1977) was a Greece, Greek film producer of 186 films and the founder of Finos Film, whose first film was in 1939. He built the first sound recording device in Greece, and shot the first colour film with stereo sound. Finos died in January 1977 after suffering cancer for seven years and he left no heir. Finos Film (Greek: Φίνος Φιλμ) is a film production company that dominated the Greek film industry from 1943 to 1977. It was founded by Filopimin Finos in 1942 during World War II. It was the biggest film production company in Greece at the time and one of the biggest, in terms of productivity, in southeast Europe. After 34 years, Finos Films returned to the Greek film scene with the Greek-Italian co-production 'Urania' (2006). Additionally, the company re-releases its old movies on DVD completely remastered and in Dolby digital 2.0 sound on a monthly basis. Sound recording and reproduction is the electrical, mechanical, electronic, or digital inscription and re-creation of sound waves, such as spoken voice, singing, instrumental music, or sound effects. It was the only film directed by Finos, better-known for running the production company Finos Films. The film was long thought to be lost after it was destroyed by the Germans during the Occupation of Greece, but a fragmented copy was discovered in Egypt.
