''Fierro'', originally ''Fierro a Fierro'', was an Argentinian comics magazine, with two very different runs: First run (1984–1992) The first incarnation of Fierro was edited by Ediciones de la Urraca between September 1984 and December 1992, which ran for 100 issues, two anthology books and special editions on Argentine comics authors, as well as supplements in some numbers. Denomination The title ''Fierro ''comes from a series of connotations that remit to the Argentinian ideal of prowess and adventure. The complete name of the magazine, ''Fierro a fierro'' was taken of an old Gaucho cartoon by Raúl Roux published in the magazine ''Patoruzito.'' The word remits equally to several things: it is the old Spanish "form" of ''hierro '' (iron), and therefore it does reference to the metal like the leading magazines in the genre in that period, '' Métal Hurlant'' and '' Heavy Metal.'' Alberto Breccia (April 15, 1919 – November 10, 1993) was an Uruguayan-born Argentina, Argentine artist and cartoonist. José Antonio Muñoz
José Antonio Muñoz or simply Muñoz (born July 10, 1942) is an Argentine artist. He is most notable for his influential black-and-white artwork. His hardboiled graphic novels series ''Alack Sinner'' (with writer Carlos Sampayo) is a noted source for Frank Miller's ''Sin City'' and the artwork in 100 Bullets by Eduardo Risso. Biography Muñoz was born in Buenos Aires. He studied at the Escuela Panamericana de Arte under Hugo Pratt and Alberto Breccia, and worked as an assistant to Francisco Solano López. In 1972 he moved to Spain and then to Italy and began a collaboration with Argentine writer Carlos Sampayo which produced, among others, the detective series ''Alack Sinner'' (sometimes misspelled "Allack Sinner") and its spin-offs ''Joe's Bar'' and ''Sophie'', as well as a comics biography of Billie Holiday. Domingo Roberto Mandrafina (born November 2, 1945, in Buenos Aires), also called Cacho Mandrafina, is an Argentine comics artist. Biography He debuted in 1969 on the magazine ''Patoruzito''. Carlos Sampayo (born 17 September 1943) is an Argentine writer best known for his work in comics, particularly in collaboration with artist José Muñoz. Sampayo was born in Carmen de Patagones, but left Argentina in the early 1970s for political reasons, and stayed in Italy, France and settled in Spain. Francisco Solano López (October 26, 1928 – August 12, 2011) was an Argentine comics artist. He was the co-creator of '' El Eternauta''. Career Born in Buenos Aires, Solano López began his career in 1953 working for the publishing house Columba where he illustrated the series ''Perico y Guillerma''. Working for Editorial Abril he met Héctor Germán Oesterheld, assigned to illustrate his series ''Bull Rocket'' for the magazine ''Misterix''. Eduardo Risso (born 23 November 1959) is an Argentine comics artist. In the United States he is best known for his work with writer Brian Azzarello on the Vertigo title '' 100 Bullets'', while in Argentina and Europe he is noted for his collaborations with Ricardo Barreiro and Carlos Trillo. He has received much acclaim for his work. He is the main creator of the popular Argentine comic convention Crack Bang Boom; a massive event which is held annually in the city of Rosario and is considered as the most important of its type in South America.
