Field Hockey At The 2007 Pan American Games
Field hockey at the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro was held over a ten-day period beginning on July 15 and culminating with the medal finals on July 24 and July 25. All games were played at the Círculo Militar Deodoro. Each team was allowed to enter a maximum of sixteen athletes. The winner of each tournament qualified to compete at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China. Argentina were the reigning Pan American Games champions in both the men's and women's competitions. The men failed to defend their title, losing to Canada 5–4 in a penalty shoot-out in the final. The women defeated the United States 4–2 in the final, winning the tournament for the 6th time. Ravi Kahlon
Ravinder "Ravi" Kahlon (born May 15, 1979) is a Canadian politician and athlete. He is a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) of British Columbia, representing the riding of Delta North since 2017, and member of the British Columbia New Democratic Party (BC NDP). He has served in the cabinet of British Columbia since 2020, currently as Minister of Housing and Government House Leader. As a field hockey player, he has represented Canada at several international events, including the 2000 and 2008 Summer Olympics. Early life and playing career Kahlon was born and raised in Victoria, British Columbia; his mother was a restauranteur, while his father was a sawmill worker. Rob ("Shorty") Short (born August 11, 1972 in Maidstone, England) is a Canadian field hockey player. Career Short played his first international senior tournament in 1995, at the Pan American Games in Mar del Plata. Highlights include the 1998 World Cup in the Netherlands where the Canadian team finished 8th, with Short scoring 4 goals in the 7 games. Peter Short (field Hockey)
Peter Short (born April 26, 1976, in Richmond, British Columbia) is a field hockey player from Canada, whose brother Rob also represents the Men's National Team. A striker, Short played for several years in the Dutch League with HGC and HC Rotterdam. He left Rotterdam after helping the club promote to the First Division in the spring of 2005. For the next two years, Short moved to the UK and played hockey for Surbiton Hockey Club in the south London area. During his time in London he studied Urban Planning at the University College London, where he acquired a master's degree in International Planning at the University College London.
