History The Court was originally established on 14 August 2007 by Presidential Order of Pervez Musharraf, the military ruler at the time. The Court was re-established by the Islamabad High Court Act, 2010 following the 18th Amendment to the Constitution of Pakistan. Islamabad Capital Territory
The Islamabad Capital Territory ( ur, , translit=Vafāqī Dār-alhakūmat) is the only federal territory of Pakistan. Located between the provinces of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, it includes the country's capital city of Islamabad. The territory is represented in the NA-52, NA-53, and NA-54 constituencies of the National Assembly and four seats of the Senate. History In 1960, land was transferred from Rawalpindi District of Punjab province to replace Karachi Federal Capital Territory and establish Pakistan's new capital. The judiciary of Pakistan ( ur, پاکستان کی عدلیہ) is a hierarchical system with two classes of courts: the superior (or higher) judiciary and the subordinate (or lower) judiciary. The superior judiciary is composed of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, the Federal Shariat Court and five High Courts, with the Supreme Court at the apex. There is a High Court for each of the four provinces as well as a High Court for the Islamabad Capital Territory. The Constitution of Pakistan entrusts the superior judiciary with the obligation to preserve, protect and defend the constitution. Athar Minallah
Athar Minallah (; born 30 December 1961) is a Pakistani jurist serving as a judge of Supreme Court of Pakistan since 11 November 2022. Prior to that, he served as the 5th Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court from 28 November 2018 to 10 November 2022. Before becoming a judge, he was a lawyer by profession and played an active part in the Lawyers' Movement which was backed by former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. Early life and career Minallah obtained his early education from his hometown, Haripur. He joined Pakistan Customs after completing his higher education, rising to senior positions. However, he later resigned and started practicing law. Following the sacking of former Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, he joined the Lawyers' Movement for the restoration of the judiciary. Muhammad Aslam (judge)
Sardar Muhammad Aslam () (10 March 1947 – 20 July 2020) was a Pakistani jurist, lawyer, and member justice of the Lahore High Court. He was also a justice of the Supreme Court of Pakistan and a former chief justice of the Islamabad High Court. However, as result of Constitution Petition No. 09 of 2009 and Constitution Petition No. 08 of 2009 in the Supreme Court of Pakistan, on 31 July 2009, the court held his elevation to Supreme Court as unconstitutional, void ab initio and of no legal effect. In addition in the same decision, the institution of Islamabad High Court was held as unconstitutional and of no legal effect. Babar ( ur, ), also variously spelled as Baber, Babur, and Babor is a male given name of Pashto, and Persian origin, and a popular male given name in Pakistan. Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri (Pashto: طارق محمود جهانګیري, Urdu: طارق محمود جہانگیری) was born on December 12, 1966, in Peshawar, Pakistan.
