Family Four
Family Four were a Sweden, Swedish pop group who recorded during the 1960s and 1970s. They were made up of Berndt Öst, Marie Bergman, Agnetha Munther and Pierre Isacsson. They won Melodifestivalen twice, in Melodifestivalen 1971, 1971 with "Vita vidder" and in Melodifestivalen 1972, 1972 with "Härliga sommardag". They went on to represent Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest on these two occasions. They finished sixth in Eurovision Song Contest 1971, 1971 and 13th in Eurovision Song Contest 1972, 1972. They also represented their home country Sweden at the opening ceremony of the 1974 FIFA World Cup. Both Marie Bergman and Pierre Isacsson went on to successful solo careers. Melodifestivalen 1972
For the Eurovision Song Contest 1972, Sweden chose their entrant in a national selection called Melodifestivalen 1972. About 1,000 entries were submitted, and Sveriges Radio picked 10 of them for the final. Family Four, last year's representative, won, again with "Härliga sommardag", a song written by Håkan Elmquist. Before Eurovision Melodifestivalen 1972 Melodifestivalen 1972 was the selection for the 13th song to represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest. It was the 12th time that this system of picking a song had been used. Approximately 1,000 songs were submitted to Sveriges Radio for the competition. The final was held in the Cirkus (Stockholm), Cirkus in Stockholm on 12 February 1972, presented by Gunilla Marcus and was broadcast on SVT1, TV1 but was not broadcast on radio. Eurovision Song Contest 1972
The Eurovision Song Contest 1972 was the 17th edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Edinburgh, United Kingdom and was organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), who agreed to stage the event after , who won in , were unable to meet the demands of hosting the event and could not find a suitable venue. The contest was held at the Usher Hall on 25 March 1972 and was hosted by Scottish ballet dancer Moira Shearer. Eighteen countries took part in the contest, the same countries as the previous year. The winner was with the song " Après toi", performed by Vicky Leandros, with lyrics by Yves Dessca, and music composed by Mario Panas (which was the writing pseudonym of Vicky's father Leo Leandros). The Eurovision Song Contest 1971 was the 16th edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Dublin, Ireland, following the country's victory at the with the song "All Kinds of Everything" by Dana. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster (RTÉ), the contest was held at the Gaiety Theatre on 3 April 1971, and was hosted by Irish television presenter Bernadette Nà Ghallchóir. Eighteen countries participated in the contest, equalling the record of the 1965 and 1966 editions. Austria returned after their two-year absence, while Finland, Norway, Portugal and Sweden all returned after having boycotted the competition the previous year. Melodifestivalen 1971
Sweden did not compete in the Eurovision Song Contest 1970, as a protest against that four countries shared the victory the preceding year. They were, however, back for the 1971 contest. Five semi-finals, with the same three competitors in all of them, were held in the popular TV show ''Hylands hörna''. The group Family Four won all of the semi-finals, and therefore sung all the songs in the final. The song "Vita vidder", written and composed by Håkan Elmquist, won and represented Sweden at ESC, held in Dublin.
