FIA WTCR Race Of Hungary
The FIA WTCR Race of Hungary, previously FIA WTCC Race of Hungary, is a round of the World Touring Car Cup, currently held at the Hungaroring near the city of Budapest. The race makes it debut in the World Touring Car Championship as the 4th round, and as a replacement for the Moroccan round after it was dropped as "the local promoter was unable to commit to an agreement for the organisation of the event." The Race debut in 2011 saw the dominating Chevrolet drivers of Alain Menu and Yvan Muller take victories and make full advantage of championship leader Rob Huff's poor qualifying and race results. The first race saw a first podium for Javier Villa, a Spanish driver debuting in the WTCC who shared the podium with local driver Norbert Michelisz in the BMW. Hungaroring
The Hungaroring is a motorsport racetrack in Mogyoród, Pest County, Hungary where the Formula One Hungarian Grand Prix is held. In 1986, it became the location of the first Formula One Grand Prix behind the Iron Curtain. Bernie Ecclestone wanted a race in the USSR, but a Hungarian friend recommended Budapest. They wanted a street circuit similar to the Circuit de Monaco to be built in the Népliget – Budapest's largest park – but the government decided to build a new circuit just outside the city near a major highway. Construction works started on 1 October 1985. It was built in eight months, less time than any other Formula One circuit. The first race was held on 24 March 1986, in memory of János Drapál, the first Hungarian who won motorcycle Grand Prix races. Gabriele Tarquini (born 2 March 1962) is an Italian racing driver. He participated in 78 Formula One Grands Prix, debuting on May 3, 1987. He scored a single championship point, and holds the record for the most failed attempts to qualify. He has subsequently raced successfully in Touring Cars, winning the BTCC in 1994, the ETCC in 2003 the WTCC in 2009 and the WTCR in 2018. On 22 November 2009 he won the 2009 FIA World Touring Car Championship title at the age of 47 years and 266 days. This made him the oldest ever world champion in an FIA series, breaking Juan Manuel Fangio's record of being FIA Formula One World Drivers' Champion at the age of 46 years and 41 days in 1957. Néstor Adrián Girolami (born May 22, 1989 in Cordoba Province), also known by the nickname "Bebu", is an Argentine racing driver. His brother Franco is also racing driver. Career He began competing in karts in 1993. He remained in this discipline until 2005. The following year he made his debut in Formula Renault Argentina and the next he was runner-up, as well as in Formula Renault Plus. He made his debut in TC 2000 in 2007, racing in one of his participations with the official Honda Argentina team. The 2019 World Touring Car Cup was the second season of the World Touring Car Cup and 15th overall of World Touring Cars promoted by Discovery Sports Events, which dates back to the 2005 World Touring Car Championship. The drivers' championship was won by Norbert Michelisz. The teams' championship was won by Cyan Racing Lynk & Co. Yann Ehrlacher (born 4 July 1996) is a French auto racing driver who competes in the World Touring Car Cup for Cyan Racing, Cyan Performance Lynk & Co. He was the 2020 World Touring Car Cup winner and defended the title in 2021. Esteban Guerrieri (born 19 January 1985 in Buenos Aires) is an Argentine racing driver. He was the most successful driver in the WTCR series in terms of wins. Career Formula racing After graduating from karts, Guerrieri competed in various Formula Renault 2000 championships from 2001 to 2003. He won the Formula Renault 2000 Masters series in 2003, with 124 points and three wins from eight races in total. For 2004, he took the large step up to Formula 3000, driving for BCN Competición. He performed well in his début year, finishing tied on 28 points in seventh place with compatriot and fellow rookie José María López.
