FC Ripensia Timișoara
Fotbal Club Ripensia Timișoara (), commonly known as Ripensia Timișoara, or simply as Ripensia, is a Romanian professional football club based in Timișoara, Timiș County. It plays in the Liga II. The team was founded in 1928 by Lázár Kornél and folded after twenty years due to lack of funds. However, ''Ripi'' was brought back to life and enrolled in the Liga VI, the sixth tier of the Romanian football league system, in 2012. Ripensia Timișoara was the first Romanian club to turn professional, and because of this status they were unable to compete in the national league until the 1932–33 season. After being granted permission in the national system, the club soon became one of the best in the country, winning four national titles and two national cups in their short history. Electrica Stadium ( ro, Stadionul Electrica) is a multi-purpose stadium in Timișoara, Romania. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of Electrica Timișoara and Ripensia Timișoara. The stadium holds 5,000 people and is located in the Fabric district. Banat
Banat (, ; hu, Bánság; sr, Банат, Banat) is a geographical and historical region that straddles Central and Eastern Europe and which is currently divided among three countries: the eastern part lies in western Romania (the counties of Timiș, Caraș-Severin, Arad south of the Mureș river, and the western part of Mehedinți); the western part of Banat is in northeastern Serbia (mostly included in Vojvodina, except for a small part included in the Belgrade Region); and a small northern part lies within southeastern Hungary (Csongrád-Csanád County). Rudolf Bürger
Rudolf Bürger (31 October 1908 – 20 January 1980) was a Romanian international footballer and coach of German ethnicity in the 1920s and 1930s who is one of a few men who participated in each of the three pre-War FIFA World Cups. Bürger played football for Ripensia Timişoara, the first professional team in Romania which came to prominence after 1932 under the direction of Rudolf Wetzer and was strong in the 1930s. Wetzer was both captain and coach of the Romanian national team at the 1930 World Cup. Bürger did not play in the 2nd World Cup but made appearances in both the first and third editions of the competition. Vilmos Zombori (11 January 1906 in Temesvár, Austria-Hungary (now Romania) – 17 January 1993) was a Romanian footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He was also known as William Zombory. With the Romania national football team, he was picked by joint coaches Josef Uridil and Costel Rădulescu to play in the 1934 World Cup in Italy. Unirea Tricolor București was a Romanian football club from Bucharest, south-east Romania, founded in 1914 as Tricolor București. It was one of the most famous inter-war clubs in Romania. The Liga I (; ''First League''), also spelled as Liga 1, is a Romanian professional league for men's association football clubs. Currently sponsored by betting company Superbet, it is officially known as the SuperLiga. It is the country's top football competition, being contested by 16 clubs which take part in a promotion and relegation system with the Liga II. The teams play 30 matches each in the regular season, before entering the championship play-offs or the relegation play-outs according to their position in the regular table. The Liga I was established in 1909 and commenced play for the 1909–10 campaign, being currently on the 29th place in UEFA's league coefficient ranking list.
