FC Lokomotyv Donetsk ( uk, Локомотив Донецьк) was a football club from Donetsk. History The club was created sometime around 1957 and initially represented city of Artemivsk (today Bakhmut). After being promoted to the Soviet Class B in 1958, the club moved to Stalino (Donetsk) in mid-season where it played at a newly built Lokomotyv Stadium (today known as RSC Olimpiyskiy). Donetsk ( , ; uk, Донецьк, translit=Donets'k ; russian: Донецк ), formerly known as Aleksandrovka, Yuzivka (or Hughesovka), Stalin and Stalino (see also: Names of European cities in different languages (C–D), cities' alternative names), is an industrial city in eastern Ukraine located on the Kalmius River in Donetsk Oblast. It is located on the Bakhmutka River, about 89 km north of Donetsk city, the administrative center of the oblast. RSC Olimpiyskiy
Regional Sports Complex "Olimpiyskyi" stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Donetsk, Ukraine. The stadium is part of bigger sports complex Olimpiyskyi and until 2014 was property of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine. Since 2014 along with neighboring Donbass Arena, it became a property of the Donetsk People's Republic. It has a capacity of 25,678 people. In 2014, the stadium's ownership has changed. Built in 1958 as part of whole Lokomotyv sports complex, originally it belonged to the Soviet Lokomotiv sports society. The stadium was built for the Donets Railway main football team that since 1948 played in Artemivsk (Bakhmut). After its reconstruction in 2003, the stadium was also host to Shakhtar's city-rivals, FC Metalurh Donetsk. Shakhtar became the sole tenant of the stadium from 2004, until their new Donbass Arena was completed. Soviet Second League
The Soviet Second League (russian: Чемпионат СССР по футболу (вторая лига), Soviet football championship (Second League)) was the third highest division of Soviet football, below the Soviet First League. The league was formed in 1971 in place of the Class A Second Group of the Soviet football championship just a year after the division was downgraded to the third tier. Previously, the third tier competition predecessor Class B was liquidated completely. The Second League remained in force until dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991.
