''Everybody's Gone to the Rapture'' is an adventure video game developed by The Chinese Room and published by Sony Computer Entertainment for the PlayStation 4. It is a story-based game, taking place in a small English village whose inhabitants have mysteriously disappeared. It is considered a spiritual successor to ''Dear Esther'', also by The Chinese Room. The Chinese Room (formerly Thechineseroom) is a British video game developer based in Brighton that is best known for exploration games, such as ''Dear Esther''. The company originated as a mod team for ''Half-Life 2'', based at the University of Portsmouth in 2007, and is named after John Searle's Chinese room thought experiment. In August 2018, it became a subsidiary of Sumo Digital. ''The Death of Grass'' (US title ''No Blade of Grass'') is a 1956 post-apocalyptic science fiction novel written by the English author Sam Youd under the pen name John Christopher. The plot concerns a virus that kills off grass species, including rice and wheat. ''The Death of Grass'' was the first of several post-apocalyptic novels written by Youd. ''The Stanley Parable'' is a story-based video game designed and written by developers Davey Wreden and William Pugh. The game carries themes such as choice in video games, the relationship between a game creator and player, and predestination/fate. In the game, the player guides a silent protagonist named Stanley alongside narration by British actor Kevan Brighting. As the story progresses, the player is confronted with diverging pathways. The player may contradict the narrator's directions, which if disobeyed will then be incorporated into the story.
