European Dressage Championships
The European Dressage Championships are the European championships for the equestrian discipline of dressage. They are held every two years in odd-numbered years. Gold, silver, and bronze medals are awarded in both individual and team competitions. There are also championships held for juniors, young riders, and ponies. Since 2015, the competition has shared a site and branding with vaulting, reining, jumping, and driving events. For sponsorship reasons, eventing is not included, as it is part of the FEI European Championships, echoing the combined World Equestrian Games concept. The first official combined event took place in Aachen in 2015. History The official European Dressage Championship was first held in 1963. Hagen
Hagen () is the 41st-largest city in Germany. The municipality is located in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Uwe Schulten-Baumer
Uwe Schulten-Baumer (14 January 1926 – 28 October 2014), nicknamed "Der Doktor" (The Doctor), was a German show jumping and dressage rider who became an internationally famous dressage trainer and coach who worked with Nicole Uphoff and Isabell Werth, who won 4 and 5, respectively, Olympic gold medals in individual and team dressage. Early life Schulten-Baumer was born in Kettwig, Essen, Germany. The son of a farmer, he became interested in horses early in life. He helped groom horses at a riding academy across from his school, later he learned to ride there. During his military service he was in the navy, and on Saturdays he would ride the commander's horses. After World War II, he rode the horse Senta at the international show jumping competition CHIO Aachen in 1952. Later he acquired the gelding Glückspiel from noted dressage trainer Fritz Tempelmann. Ivan Kalita (equestrian)
Ivan Aleksandrovich Kalita (russian: Иван Александрович Калита; 14 January 1927 – 29 March 1996) was a Soviet equestrian and Olympic champion. He won a gold medal in team dressage at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich. Kalita was the oldest Olympic participant from USSR (49 years and 197 days during 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal). Elena Petushkova
Yelena Vladimirovna Petushkova (russian: Елена Владимировна Петушкова) (born Moscow 17 November 1940 - died there 9 January 2007) was a Russian and former Soviet equestrian who won three medals, of which one was gold and two silver in dressage during the Summer Olympics. Biography Petushkova became a member of the USSR National Team in 1964 and competed for it until 1987. In the 1968 Summer Olympics she won her first silver medal, finishing in second place in the team dressage event alongside Ivan Kalita and Ivan Kizimov.
