Erwood, Saskatchewan
Erwood is a hamlet in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. The hamlet has an outfitting business (for guided hunting), a community centre, and a Church of God. There is a traffic bridge on Highway 3, just west of the hamlet, where residents enjoy swimming in the Red Deer River. Residents of the area also maintain the Erwood Cemetery that exists approximately 1.5 miles from the hamlet. Demographics In the 2021 Census of Population conducted by Statistics Canada, Erwood had a population of 35 living in 18 of its 30 total private dwellings, a change of from its 2016 population of 50. Greenwater Lake Provincial Park
Greenwater Lake Provincial Park is a provincial park in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. It is located on the eastern side of the province in the Porcupine Hills on Highway 38. The closest town, Porcupine Plain, is about 28 kilometres to the north-east of the park visitor centre. Founded on 19 February 1932, Greenwater is one of the oldest provincial parks in Saskatchewan. The original six parks were established in 1931 and Greenwater Provincial Park was added one year later. In 1964, the park was expanded to its current size. The park is centred around two lakes, Greenwater and Marean, in the Porcupine Provincial Forest. The west side of Marean Lake is not within the park but there is a resort there called Marean Lake Valley Resort. Sawmill
A sawmill (saw mill, saw-mill) or lumber mill is a facility where logs are cut into lumber. Modern sawmills use a motorized saw to cut logs lengthwise to make long pieces, and crosswise to length depending on standard or custom sizes (dimensional lumber). Hudson Bay Junction
Hudson Bay is a town in east-central Saskatchewan, Canada, west of the Manitoba border. The town is surrounded by the Rural Municipality of Hudson Bay No. 394. History In 1757, a Hudson Bay Company fur trading post was established in the Hudson Bay District beside the Red Deer River. Ruins from the post have been found near the village of Erwood. In 1790, the North West Trading Company set up a trading post at the mouth of the Etomami River called Fort Red Deer River. Speculators think that a South Company's post was set up on the opposite mouth of the River, where there are remains of a second post unaccounted for. Over the years a settlement grew and, in July 1907, an application was made to erect Etomami as a village; Etomami was a native word that meant "a place that three rivers join."
