Emmi Rakkolainen (born 9 August 1996) is a Finnish ice hockey player and member of the Finland women's national ice hockey team, Finnish national team, currently playing in the Swedish Women's Hockey League (SDHL) with HV71 (women), HV71 Dam. Playing career Rakkolainen previoisly served as Captain (ice hockey), captain of Kiekko-Espoo Naiset in the Naisten Liiga (ice hockey), Naisten Liiga (NSML). International play Rakkolainen was officially named to the Finnish roster for the 2020 IIHF Women's World Championship on 4 March 2020, prior to the IIHF canceling the tournament on 7 March 2020 in response to public health concerns related to COVID-19. International Ice Hockey Federation
The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF; french: Fédération internationale de hockey sur glace; german: Internationale Eishockey-Föderation) is a worldwide governing body for ice hockey. It is based in Zurich, Switzerland, and has 83 member countries. The IIHF maintains the IIHF World Ranking based on international ice hockey tournaments. Rules of play for IIHF events differ from hockey in North America and the rules of the National Hockey League (NHL). The 2023 Aurora Borealis Cup playoffs or the 2023 Naisten Liiga playoffs () is the postseason tournament of the 2022–23 season of the Naisten Liiga. The tournament began on 25 February and HIFK Helsinki were awarded the Aurora Borealis Cup on 21 March 2023. The 2021–22 Naisten Liiga season is the thirty-ninth season of the Naisten Liiga, the premier level of women's ice hockey in Finland, since the league's establishment as the Naisten SM-sarja in 1982. The Aurora Borealis Cup ( fi, Aurora Borealis -malja) is the trophy awarded to the Finnish Champion in women's ice hockey, the victorious team of the Naisten Liiga playoffs. The Aurora Borealis Cup was created to honor the quality of play in Naisten Liiga and as a symbol of support in the promotion of women's ice hockey. Project The trophy had its genesis in a moment of inspiration that struck Christopher Shapardanov, Canadian Ambassador to Finland, in September 2009, after a visit to the ''Suomen Jääkiekkomuseo'' (Finnish Ice Hockey Museum and Hockey Hall of Fame) in Tampere and conversation with Kimmo Leinonen, chairman of the ''Suomen Jääkiekkomuseoyhdistys ry:n'' (Finnish Ice Hockey Museum Association), and Jyrki Lumme. The IIHF Women's World U18 Championship, officially the IIHF Ice Hockey U18 Women's World Championship, is an annual ice hockey tournament for national women's under-18 (U18) ice hockey teams, administrated by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). It is the junior edition of the IIHF Women's World Championship and participation is limited to female ice hockey players under 18 years of age.
