2023 Aurora Borealis Cup Playoffs
The 2023 Aurora Borealis Cup playoffs or the 2023 Naisten Liiga playoffs () is the postseason tournament of the 2022–23 season of the Naisten Liiga. The tournament began on 25 February and HIFK Helsinki were awarded the Aurora Borealis Cup on 21 March 2023. Entering the playoffs, Kiekko-Espoo were the reigning Aurora Borealis Cup champions after winning the 2022 Naisten Liiga playoffs. At the conclusion of the 2022–23 regular season, HIFK and KalPa were favorites for the 2023 Aurora Borealis Cup finals. Bracket Quarterfinals The best-of-five quarterfinals () began on Saturday, 25 February and concluded on Saturday, 4 March. Team Kuortane
Team Kuortane is an ice hockey team in the Naisten Liiga, the premier women's hockey league in Finland. They are based at the Kuortaneen urheilulukio in Kuortane, a small town in South Ostrobothnia, and play at the (). The team was founded by the Finnish Ice Hockey Association in 2010 as part of its initiative to develop the ice hockey skills of young women in Finland. Since its creation, approximately half of all national under-18 team rosters have been filled by players from Team Kuortane. The 2021–22 Naisten Liiga season is the thirty-ninth season of the Naisten Liiga, the premier level of women's ice hockey in Finland, since the league's establishment as the Naisten SM-sarja in 1982. In ice hockey and lacrosse, it is a statistic that represents the percentage of shots on goal a goaltender stops. It is calculated by dividing the number of saves by the total number of shots on goal. Although the statistic is called a "percentage", it is often given as a decimal, in the same way as a batting average in baseball. Goals against average (GAA) also known as "average goals against" or "AGA" is a statistic used in field hockey, ice hockey, lacrosse, soccer, and water polo that is the mean of goals allowed per game by a goaltender or goalkeeper (depending on sport). GAA is analogous to a baseball pitcher's earned run average (ERA). In Japanese, the same translation (防御率) is used for both GAA and ERA, because of this. Julia Liikala (born 20 March 2001) is a Finnish ice hockey winger and member of the Finnish national ice hockey team. She is signed with the Hockey Club Ambrì-Piotta Girls (HCAP Girls) of the Swiss Women's League (SWHL A) for the 2024–25 season.
