2021 Aurora Borealis Cup Playoffs
The 2021 Aurora Borealis Cup playoffs or the 2021 Naisten Liiga playoffs () was the playoff tournament of the 2020–21 Naisten Liiga season. The Naisten Liiga playoffs began on 3 March and the Aurora Borealis Cup was awarded to Kiekko-Espoo, the 38th Finnish Champion in women's ice hockey, on 25 March. There are a number of formats used in various levels of competition in sports and games to determine an overall champion. Finnish Ice Hockey Association
The Finnish Ice Hockey Association ( fi, Suomen Jääkiekkoliitto, sv, Finlands Ishockeyförbund) is the governing body of ice hockey in Finland. In 1927, the Finnish Skating Association introduced ice hockey as part of its program and, through that organization, Finland joined the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) in 1928. Emilia Vesa (born 3 January 2001) is a Finnish ice hockey winger and member of the Finnish national ice hockey team, currently playing in the Swedish Women's Hockey League (SDHL) with Frölunda HC. International play As a junior player with the Finnish national under-18 team, she participated in the IIHF U18 Women's World Championships in 2017, 2018, and 2019, winning a bronze medal at the 2019 tournament. Rovaniemen Kiekko Naiset ('Rovaniemi's Puck Women'), abbreviated RoKi Naiset, are an ice hockey team in the Naisten Liiga. They play at Lappi Areena in Rovaniemi, the capital city of Finnish Lapland. Turun Palloseura Naiset or TPS Naiset are an ice hockey team in the Finnish Naisten Liiga (ice hockey), Naisten Liiga. HIFK Naiset, also known by the nickname Stadin Gimmat ('Girls of ,' a nickname for Helsinki), are an ice hockey team in the Naisten Liiga. They play in the Pirkkola district of Helsinki, at the Pirkkola Ice Hall (). HPK Kiekkonaiset are an ice hockey team in the Naisten Liiga (NSML), the premier women's ice hockey league in Finland. They are the representative women’s team of Hämeenlinnan Pallokerho (HPK), a multi-sport club in Hämeenlinna, Kanta-Häme, Finland. HPK were the first team to be awarded the Aurora Borealis Cup as the winners of the Finnish Championship in 2011. History A women's hockey team has competed under the parent club HPK since at least 1999. From 1999 to 2008, HPK Kiekkonaiset competed in the Naisten I-divisioona (called Naisten Mestis after 2013).
