Emel Dereli
Emel Dereli (born February 25, 1996) is a Turkish female track and field athlete competing in shot put and occasionally in discus throw. For the shot put event, she holds a IAAF World Youth Championships in Athletics, world record in the cadets and a Turkish records in athletics, national record in the juniors category. Since 2012, she is a member of Fenerbahçe Athletics. She is coached by İhsan Özden. Career Dereli was born in Zonguldak, where she is a student at Vocational High School for Commerce in Zonguldak. She began shot put in 2008, and two years later she was called up for the Turkey national team. She won more than fifty medals at national and international competitions in different age categories. Shot Put
The shot put is a track and field event involving "putting" (throwing) a heavy spherical ball—the ''shot''—as far as possible. The shot put competition for men has been a part of the modern Olympics since their revival in 1896, and women's competition began in 1948. History Homer mentions competitions of rock throwing by soldiers during the Siege of Troy but there is no record of any dead weights being thrown in Greek competitions. IAAF World Youth Championships In Athletics
The IAAF U18 Championships in Athletics (until 2015 known as IAAF World Youth Championships in Athletics) was a global athletics event comprising track and field events for competitors who were 17 or younger (youth = Under-18). The event was organized by International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF). It was held biennially from 1999 to 2017. 2012 European Cup Winter Throwing
The 2012 European Cup Winter Throwing was held on 17 and 18 March at the Stadion Topolica in Bar, Montenegro. It was the twelfth edition of the athletics competition for throwing events and was jointly organised by the European Athletic Association and the Athletic Federation of Montenegro. The competition featured men's and women's contests in shot put, discus throw, javelin throw and hammer throw. In addition to the senior competitions, there were also under-23 events for younger athletes. A total of 294 athletes from 39 European countries entered the competition. On the first day of the competition, Nadzeya Ostapchuk produced a throw of 20.29 m to win the shot put, while Martina Ratej took the women's javelin title. Dutchman Erik Cadée won the men's discus and Kirill Ikonnikov took the hammer title for Russia. The 2013 European Cup Winter Throwing was held on 16 and 17 March at the Pista de Atletismo Universitat Jaume I and Complejo Deportivo Gaetà Huguet in Castellón de la Plana, Castellón, Spain. It was the thirteenth edition of the athletics (sport), athletics competition in throwing events and was jointly organised by the European Athletic Association and the Real Federación Española de Atletismo. The competition featured men's and women's contests in shot put, discus throw, javelin throw and hammer throw. In addition to the senior competitions, there were also under-23 events for younger athletes. A total of 249 athletes from 38 nations entered the competition.
