Elia Alba
Elia Alba (1962) was born in Brooklyn, Brooklyn, New York. She is a multidisciplinary artist who lives and works in Queens, Queens, New York. Alba's ongoing project ''The Supper Club'' depicts contemporary artists of color in portraits, and presents dinners where a diverse array of artists, curators, historians and collectors address topics related to people of color and to women. In the late 1980s Alba began photographing her friend's small dance company which led to photographing other dance and opera companies throughout New York City. Havana Biennial
The Bienal de La Habana was founded in 1984. It takes place in Havana (Cuba) every two years. It principally aims at promoting the developing world in contemporary art circles, giving priority to Latin American and Caribbean artists, although artists from all over the world submit works. Clifford Owens
Clifford Owens is an African-American mixed media and performance artist, writer and curator. Owens was born in Baltimore, Maryland, in 1971 and spent his early life in Baltimore. Owens is known for his works which center on the body and often include interactions with the audience and spontaneity. Education and teaching Clifford Owens attended the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), then transferred to the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, from which he graduated with a BFA in 1998. Arnaldo Morales (born 1967) is a Puerto Rico-born, New York-based artist who creates interactive, mechanical sculptures using recycled and fabricated industrial materials. Early life and education Morales was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico in 1967. He received his B.A. from Escuela de Artes Plásticas, San Juan, Puerto Rico, in 1994. He moved to New York in 1996. Abigail DeVille
Abigail DeVille (born 1981) is an artist who creates large sculptures and installations, often incorporating found materials from the neighborhoods around the exhibition venues. DeVille's sculptures and installations often focus on themes of the history of racist violence, gentrification, and lost regional history.
