Eid Fjord
The Eid Fjord ( no, Eidfjorden) is the innermost part of the Hardanger Fjord in Norway. It extends eastwards from the Utne Fjord and Sørfjorden. The Eid Fjord lies in the municipalities of Ullensvang, Ulvik, and Eidfjord in Vestland county. The inner part of the ford is called the Simadal Fjord ( no, Simadalsfjorden). The villages of Ringøy and Bjotveit lie on the south side of the fjord, and Djønno lies on the north side. Further into the fjord, village on the north side include Vangsbygdi and, to the east, Bruravik. From Bruravik there was a ferry connection to Brimnes on the south side of the fjord. This ferry was part of the route between Bergen and Oslo across the Hardangervidda Plateau on Norwegian National Road 7. In 2013 the ferry connection was replaced by the Hardanger Bridge. Kjeåsen
Kjeåsen is a mountain farm (with two farmsteads) in the municipality of Eidfjord in Norway's Hardanger district, in Vestland county. The farm lies at an elevation of at the innermost point of the Simadal Fjord. The farm is no longer being worked, and one person lives there during the summer. The site is popular with tourists, especially Swedes. The farm has been referred to as "the world's most inaccessible farm." Kjeåsen can be reached on foot up the steep path from the Sima Hydroelectric Power Station. This was the farm's road until 1974, and the trip takes about 1½ to 2 hours each way. Kjeåsen also has what is known as "the world's most expensive farm road"; it is long, of which approximately consists of a tunnel from the Sima Valley to the farm. Bruravik–Brimnes Ferry
The Bruravik–Brimnes Ferry was a Norwegian ferry connection across the Hardanger Fjord between Bruravik in the municipality of Ulvik and Brimnes in the municipality of Eidfjord. The ferry connected Norwegian County Road 7 and Norwegian National Road 13, and before it was discontinued it was operated by the company Fjord1 and served by MF ''Sogn'' with up to three departures per hour. The crossing lasted about 12 minutes. In the summer of 2013 the route was also served by MF ''Sognefjord''. History The route was served by HSD (later Tide Sjø) from its opening in 1934 until 2011. Eidfjord (village)
Eidfjord is the administrative centre of Eidfjord municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The village is located on the shore of the Eid Fjord, an inner branch of the large Hardangerfjorden. The village sits about east of the Hardanger Bridge along the Norwegian National Road 7. The village has a population (2019) of 544 and a population density of . This makes it the largest settlement in the municipality, with over half of Eidfjord's residents living in this village. Osa Fjord
The Osa Fjord ( no, Osafjorden) is a branch of the Eid Fjord and the Hardanger Fjord fully located within the municipality of Ulvik in Vestland county, Norway. Hardanger Bridge
The Hardanger Bridge ( no, Hardangerbrua) is a suspension bridge across the Eidfjorden branch off of the main Hardangerfjorden in Vestland county, Norway. The bridge connects the municipalities of Ullensvang and Ulvik. It replaced a ferry connection between Bruravik and Brimnes, and thereby shortens the driving time between Oslo and Bergen. It is the longest suspension bridge in Norway. Construction The bridge was approved for building by the Norwegian Parliament on February 28, 2006, and construction began on February 26, 2009. While the bridge was engineered by the Norwegian Public Roads Administration, the construction was done by MT Højgaard. Norwegian National Road 7
Norwegian National Road 7 ( no, Riksvei 7, ) is a national road in Norway which runs from the town of Hønefoss in Viken county to the village of Granvin in Vestland county. The route is long and runs east–west through Viken and Vestland counties over the vast Hardangervidda plateau. The road begins at the European route E16 highway just south of Heradsbygda in Ringerike municipality and runs through the Sogna river valley to the village of Sokna (this part is called the ''Soknedalsveien'').
