Edward Jobson (actor)
Edward Jobson (February 29, 1860 – February 7, 1925) was an American actor of stage and silent film. He started in silent films in his fifties. He had a sour yet sad bulldog demeanor and can be spotted in several surviving silent films. In ''The Delicious Little Devil'' (1919) he plays Rudolph Valentino's father, though the two actors looked nothing alike. ''Brass'' is a 1923 American silent romantic drama film produced and distributed by Warner Bros. It was directed by Sidney A. Franklin. This movie stars Monte Blue, Marie Prevost, and Irene Rich. The well-regarded film survives in 16mm format. Plot As described in a film magazine review, a young man born in the country leaves his family farm to engage in business in the city. He marries for the first time when he is still very young, finds the match a failure, gets a divorce, and starts life again. The hopelessness of life as far as a happy marriage is concerned forces itself on the young man, whose only brief period of happiness was enjoyed when he was living with a woman who really loves him and sacrifices for him. The Young Rajah
''The Young Rajah'' is a 1922 silent film starring Rudolph Valentino. The film was based on the book ''Amos Judd'' by John Ames Mitchell. Plot After fifteen years, Joshua Judd ( Charles Ogle) tells his adopted son, Amos (Valentino), that his real father was an Indian maharajah overthrown by Ali Khan (Bertram Grassby). Amos, then a young boy (played by an uncredited Pat Moore), was rescued by General Devi Das Gadi ( George Periolat) and taken to America for his safety. (Joshua's merchant brother had been a trusted friend of the late maharajah.) Amos attends Harvard University. There he incurs the hatred of Austin Slade, Jr. (Jack Giddings), whom he beats out for a spot on the rowing team. The film was based on the short story " The Offshore Pirate" by F. Scott Fitzgerald, of no relation to the director, that was published in ''The Saturday Evening Post''.
