Walter Arthur "Hoot" Evers (February 8, 1921 – January 25, 1991) was an American baseball outfielder, scout, coach, and executive. Evers played professional baseball from 1941 to 1942 and 1946 to 1956, including 12 seasons in Major League Baseball with the Detroit Tigers (1941, 1946–1952, 1954), Boston Red Sox (1952–1954), New York Giants (1954), Baltimore Orioles (1954, 1956), and Cleveland Indians (1955–1956). Evers missed the 1943, 1944, and 1945 seasons due to military service during World War II. He was selected to the American League All-Star team in 1948 and 1950. During the 1950 season, he compiled a .323 batting average with 67 extra-base hits and led the American League with 11 triples. Guy Vincent Evers (22 November 1874 – 29 May 1959) was an English international rugby union forward who played club rugby for Moseley. Evers played international rugby for the British Isles on their 1899 tour of Australia Personal history Evers was born in Stourbridge in 1874, the fourth son of Frank Evers and Isobel Smith. He was educated at Haileybury. On returning from his rugby tour of Australia, Evers took up work in Amblecote with E.J. & J. Pearson Ltd., a fireclay mines and works business. Georgina Emma Buchanan Earl (born 10 October 1978 in Hastings, New Zealand), better known under her maiden name Georgina Evers-Swindell, is a former New Zealand rower. Edvard Evers (12 May 1853 – 22 October 1919) was a Swedish Lutheran priest and hymnwriter. Edvard Evers is mostly famous for writing the lyrics of the Christmas carole ''Jul, jul, strålande jul''. The song was composed by Gustaf Nordqvist and was first published in 1921. Edvard Evers was born at Uddevalla in Västra Götaland, Sweden. He was the son of Per Emil Evers and Mathilda (Nordström) Evers. Evers studied at Lund University and graduated in theology in 1878.
